The Miami Dolphins have the greatest winning percentage of any team in NFL history at 58.2% through the end of the 2008 season. The Dallas Cowboys are close behind with a 57.7%.

All-time winning percentages in our division:

Dolphins: 58.2% (380W - 272L, 4 ties)
Patriots: 51.6% (377W - 354L, 9 ties)
Buff Bills: 47.6% (348W - 384L, 8 ties)
NY Jets: 45.3% (331W - 401L, 8 ties)

The Dolphins have won three more games than the Patriots all-time, even though the Patriots were in the NFL 6 more seasons than the Phins.

The Bills and Jets haven't come close to winning half of their games. LOSERS. :chuckle:

The Chicago Bears have won the most games of any NFL team with 686 wins. The Cowboys have the most playoff wins with 32, followed by the Steelers with 31. the Phins have 20 playoff wins and 20 playoff losses.

It's been like that for many moons, but i heard the steelers were only like 2 games behind us for best winning percentage. we are both somewhere around .604-.609
something ridiculously close..

Unbeliveable after the crappy seasons we've been having the past 6 years

The Steelers have an all-time record of 525-502....they had many horrible years before the 1970's. Their winning % is 51.1%.

I actually thought we had the best winning percentage of any team in all of professional sports

The information I have shows that the Bears are second with 57.9 % and the Cowboys are third with 57.8 %.

i guess that 1-15 season didn't help it out lol good thing we followed it by a 11-5 season

Good thing 2008 came along, or we wouldn't be the winningest team in NFL history.

I definitely wouldn't be putting down the Steelers.

Since the 1970 NFL/AFL merger (when they really care about these things and keep these records), the Steelers are neck and neck with the Dolphins for winning %.

Furthermore, the Steelers have won 3 times more super bowls than we have. We haven't won jack in over 25 years, and haven't won a super bowl in over 35 years... And the Steelers have a lot more players in the hall of fame since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.

I have total respect for the Steelers organization.

The Cowboys are right on our neck as far as winning % since the 1970 merger as well.

The Dolphins used to be way ahead a decade ago. But since then quite a few teams have closed the gap, and are primed to pass Miami over the next few years unless the Dolphins go on a heck of a run.

The numbers are correct for the Hall of Fame site and also Pro Football Reference.com, I think the Hall of Fame may not have rounded off correctly....here are the overal records of Bears and Cowboys:

Bears: 686-498 and 42 ties....winning % = 686/1184 = .5793
Cowboys: 423-309 and 6 ties....winning % = 423/732 = .5778

Yet we haven't won a SB in my lifetime. It doesn't feel like the Phins have the highest winning pct.

I am not putting down the Steelers but I don't think most people realize just how horrible the Steelers were. From their inception in 1933 until 1972.....they made the playoffs ONCE in this entire 40 year period and lost. They didn't win a playoff game until 1972. The game where Franco Harris made the Immaculate Reception against the Raider's was their first playoff win ever. The undefeated Miami Dolphins beat them the following week.
Yes, the Steelers have had a great deal of success since then and a better record than Miami but you also have to look at the division they play in. The Bengals, Browns, Oilers-Ravens have not exactly had juggernaut teams since the early 1970's. Miami plays in a much tougher division.

This is what I need to see so I can die happy LOL.. ive seen the Heat win the NBA Finals, ive seen the Marlins take the World Series and of course ive seen the Canes take the National Championship...

Seeing the Florida Panthers take a Stanley Cup would be nice (even though I saw them play in it) but thats the least of priority

but for sure need to see the Dolphins win a SB
