Miami Dolphins have a lot to gain, nothing to lose with Larry Johnson

It's a low risk move but why not sign Portis? He's the better option in my opinion and he's younger. Not to mention his track record is miles ahead of LJ.

You said it yourself. That's your opinion, not the professionals who run this team. Portis was 15 lb overweight from what I heard. Would that be a good thing in your eyes?

Low mileage and is a really great at running between the tackles. From what i heard he is in great shape from working out with Odrick all preseason. This is no brainer and could reap great rewards, he's hungry and knows this is his last chance.

Didn't the Pats sign Fred Taylor to be the #1 or #2 back and gave him a multi-year deal with some decent money? The Patriots TRADED for an aging, on the decline WR in Ochocinco this offseason and I would think the Patriots probably have him in their starting lineup or at worst one of the top 3 guys. The Patriots were considered geniuses when these moves were made.

The Dolphins sign an aging RB(who by the way is younger than Fred Taylor and Ochocinco at the time of their signings), at the veteran MINIMUM to COMPETE for the #3 spot on the depth chart, not a starting role. That is considered by those same people as a head scratcher move.

That doesn't seem odd to you?

They did sign him to be a immediate contributor if not the starter. This was during there Maroney era(draft geniuses!). 2 year 5 million deal, 3 mill first year and 2 the second year, and i believe most of that was guaranteed.
Every time the Patriots do anything they are branded brilliant. Anyone remember Torry Holt? How about that summer John Lynch spent with them? Adalius Thomas sure was worth it. Im personally enjoying their Detroit Lions like streak of drafting cornerbacks(In four years they have burned 4 round two or higher draft picks on the position).

Its a well known fact that if you stand just outside of Peter Kings field of vision and shout out "Bill Belicheck!" he will whip his head around so fast it causes him whip lash(as well, if you yell out "Peyton Manning!" he will begin running in the direction before looking, often resulting in numerous injuries due to building, lightpoles, and telephone booths being in the area). Everyone still remembers the Patriots of 2001, when they made alot of shrewd free agent decisions that helped them make multiple runs(that and cameras).

Ive expressed my displeasure at the Johnson signing, but people really need to get over the Patriots. There is no reason for them to even enter the discussion. If we compared everything we do to what they do, the discussion would begin and end with a trip to the nearest Best Buy to pick up video cameras.

There's a lot to gain from a soon to be 32 yr old RB who hasn't been productive in 5 years and acts like a complete scumbag? Sure, Mando.

Hey, why not? He's not played for a while now (Ricky Williams), but I guess we'll see. If NE signs this guy it's a genius move, or so ESPN would have you believe. If the guy just wasn't into it at the time, being lazy, not caring, then there is a good reason he wasn't producing. If he "truely" is passionate again..good things could come out of it I suppose.

Thanks didn't know Jeff Ireland posted here. I'll admit I didn't hear Portis was out of shape. Doesn't change the fact that LJ isn't good enough to crack an NFL roster anymore.
