Asomugha on Smith: "I saw him playing in the Jets game that came on national TV. I was impressed with the way he was using his hands at the line of scrimmage. A lot of times when you get a longer guy, early in his career, he doesn't figure out that he can use his hands at the line of scrimmage. I was happy that he had figured that out. And he's already getting playing time as a rookie, so he's already ahead of where I was. I didn't start playing corner until my third year in the league. The sky's the limit for a guy with that size."

Revis on Davis: "Vontae's good, man. Vontae's real good. I saw him the other day, he's like, 'I'm going to be there (in the Pro Bowl) with you next year. I said, 'Hey, come on, man.' You've got to have a little confidence, and that's the thing I like about him, is he will go up against guys and he's not scared. He wants the competition. He's going to be here sooner or later. He even told me, 'I want to watch film with you, to see how you study.' So he just wants to get better."

Right Vontae, as if the Jets organization is going to allow you to go study film with their elite corner.

Shows u what one draft can do . . . we went into the offseason with Jason Allen and Nate Jones under contract . . . we resign Will Allen and draft 2 CB's in the first 2 rounds . . . now CB is a strength on our team.

I am hoping we do the same with LB in this draft.

Obviously Davis has more upside . . . more physical and seems to have a better knack for making a play on the ball. He has #1 CB written all over him.

Sean Smith is not nearly as complete of a CB as Davis, but he seems to be better in man coverage . . . a great #2 CB in this league. Would like to see him more physical against the run and see him work on his tackling technique, but with him and Davis, u are talking about Madison and Surtain part deux . . . I really believe that.

The NFL is a players league. The Jets really cant stop them from discussing techniques they use or even watching film of each other during the offseason. If Revis and Davis become friends, that could likely be the case.

Its great to here that Davis is really going all out to better himself as a player. With that type of work ethic, he will definetly make a pro bowl in the next couple of seasons.

Why not? They could always watch film on two other teams. Doesn't have to be the Dolphins vs whoever or the Jets vs whoever.

He just wants to see how Revis studies is all. I don't think the Jets will find any harm in that.

This isn't a charity...

Why the hell would the Jets allow their star CB to tutor our rookie CB??? If i found out Ronnie Brown was over there teaching Shonn Green how to run the wildcat i'd be furious.

This is stupid...

Its not like he's talking about showing him the Jets playbook, he's talking about a friend of his asking for career improvement advice.... Jets have no say in that...

Its like when all the canes go to miami and workout together in the offseason...

By the way, this is the stuff I LOVE to hear from players on the Dolphins.... maybe Vontae can bring Channing Crowder with him to show him how to work the dvr.

At least he asked, it shows that he is actively trying to become a better player and not just working out a contract.

I think it speaks highly of both of those AMAZING cornerbacks to be humble enough to give some young bucks a compliment instead of tooting their own horns, for once.
Nice post!

Do the Jets actually have any say in the matter? They can't and won't really keep the footage from him.

That is actually a very good point.

I feel bad for Asomugha man. Poor guy is stuck in purgatory there in Oakland. Did he ever sign a long deal with that team? You know, I don't understand why more players don't sign the Franchise Tag with the agreement that they can't be tagged again.

I actually like that he keeps an open mind and will to do anything to get better. There is a saying keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.
