Hickey, the Bucs’ director of player personnel, has spent the last 18 seasons in Tampa Bay and was part of the team’s Super Bowl championship in 2002-03 and four division titles. Before getting promoted to his current position in 2011 he was the Bucs’ director of college scouting for six seasons.

After finishing his college football career as a three-year starter and captain at the University of Tulsa, Hickey was an assistant coach at Blinn Junior College in Texas from 1994-95. Then he joined the Buccaneers as a pro personnel assistant in the scouting department. He was promoted to the role of college scout and was responsible for all of the Midwestern states.

Breaking: The Dolphins have hired Dennis Hickey as their new GM

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 39s

Miami Herald reporting Dennis Hickey being hired as GM. Wow.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Like Pats personnel man Nick Cesario, Titans VP Lake Dawson turned down offer today to become Dolphins GM. Dennis Hickey, Omar Khan remain.

I don't trust Mando. I won't do it... but for the love of ZEUS, if this report is true...

SHOTGUN RIGHT TO MY HEAD

Is his main accomplishment saying yes? Someone give us the lowdown on whether we should be happy or sad to start the season

If Hickey succeeds, Ross will still get criticized for him not even being the first choice...

Forgive me if I feel a bit underwhelmed...LOL With that being said I pray this thing works!!!!

He's a good team player...lol

Hey look, Dolphins found yet another way to disappoint. After the last couple of days I didn't think they could top themselves, guess they did.

Nevermind, after extensive research I declare that he is better than Ireland in that he is at least willing and able to draft a competant WR

He will have my support. Look TB is filled with a talented roster & solid draft picks. He didn't get an interview with TB probably b/c It was Lovie Smiths choice & he wanted a differnt direction I'm sure.

How can ANYONE spin this is positive. The Dolphins end up hiring perhaps the WORST candidate they interviewed? This is just ludicrous. Here is a guy who was part of an organization that performed even WORSE than the Dolphins the past few years. He is also a guy that his own organization didn't want a part of even as an ASSISTANT, and we make him the GM!?

What a complete unadulterated NIGHTMARE. I am seriously pondering becoming a fan of another franchise until this VENEREAL DISEASE known as Stephen Ross is scrubbed away from this organization.

Hickey? Jeez, and Dawson turned them down too?
This whole thing is a battered wife marriage.

No hope for this guy eh? Don't know much.

Regardless, I don't care who the GM is next year. I believe PHilbin and Tanne will be successful next year.
