Here's the situation, as Jason Taylor sees it:
When he decided he would play his 13th NFL season, all anyone wanted to discuss were his supposed rift with Dolphins football czar Bill Parcells, his frustrating year with the Washington Redskins and his 35th birthday, which he celebrated before the opener.
Six games into the season, everyone could be talking about how he has been rejuvenated in his return to Miami. Playing a new position, strong-side linebacker, the former defensive end has 5.5 sacks, which puts him on pace for 15, more than he had when he was NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2006.
Could 35 be the new 25? Whatever anyone's expectations, Taylor had his own ideas.
"I'm not surprised," he said Thursday. "I know I'm 35 and everyone thinks I kicked the bucket already. But I know I can still play."
