On one play, an Eagle ran around him leading to what appeared at first to be a sack-fumble of Jay Cutler. In a savvy, veteran move, Cutler actually threw the football at a running backs’ feet to avoid the sack and potential turnover.
“That’s me doing the wrong technique at the wrong time for the assignment,” James said. “It was the one ‘MA’ (missed assignment) I had in the game so I’ve just got to clean up on that and do better on that. Like I said, all of us together, we’ve got to make sure we’re on our stuff so we can’t have little plays that set us back like that. We were doing great on drives. We’ve just got to be able to finish them.”

ME/MA are actually more concerning than simple lack of physical play. It shouldn't be happening at this stage with James. Hopefully we can just chalk it up to preseason, but these issues often carry over into the regular season.

He needs a good season. Eric Smith is breathing down his neck making James a big cut possibility next season

Mediocre talent regardless. He will look good against sub par competition and his praises will be sung around here but the better defensive ends will always make him look pedestrian.

You are being kind SOS.

JJ is soft, too bad there is not a team with a starting Lefty QB. Hes worth a 3rd to them. A RT without a nasty streak isn't $8 million.

He is a 4 mil guy, but he might get 6 from a stupid team. Hope it ain't us. Dolphins need to move on from him unless he wants to sign a team friendly deal.

This one is on Ross if I'm not mistaken. Absofragginlutely should have taken that trade down offer back then. There were just so many better choices that year.

was a big reach on draft day and hasn't really panned out for a RT taking in the top 20

His cap number next year is $9.3 million.

We are under no obligation to keep him. Just because we exercised the option doesn't mean we can't cut him and recover the entire amount with 0 dead cap hit.

If he wants an extension on a team friendly deal, then, perhaps, but there is no way he is playing next year at nearly 10 mil. We are team that is severely cap strapped going into 2018. There is just no way that happens. If it does, somebody needs to be fired.

The kid is way better than most of you guys give him credit for. He is a solid player at right tackle and would be hard to replace with anyone on the roster now. If he were to get hurt, you would notice the drop-off with anyone who would replace him.

Understand that he doesn't live up to his pick or income next year, but how many holes can we fix next year? He is still young enough to extend him and let him compete for his spot. If Eric Smith takes his spot perhaps he could be our swing tackle for the future?
