DAVIE – Miami Dolphins kicker Andrew Franks shanked a 37-yard field goal try at the end of the first half on Thursday night, but he’s not worried.

“That one was on me,” Franks said. “I mi**** a ball. It’s going to happen. No one is perfect. I’m glad it was in preseason and not in the game. You know, my body of work during training camp proves I can be consistent. If that’s my one detriment this camp I’ll take it.”
The Dolphins aren’t worried either. This week, they cut rookie Marshall Koehn, his competition.
“It’s nice that the team values me enough that they think I can be the guy moving forward,” Franks said. “I was the guy last year. This year is a good jumping point. I have seen improvement.

idk, I never really liked Franks. Every time he set up to kick I got worried lol. He's no Olindo Mare, but I guess he's fine if we keep his kicks under 40 yards.

Good to hear that he is not letting it bug him...Like corners, Kickers in a game need to have the memory of goldfish, and just totally forget about it, he has proven to be a consistent kicker already this camp.

Franks is neither, and that's fine. At least he doesn't look like he **** his pants every time he's about to kick like Caleb Sturgis did. Sturgis looked like he realized he left the oven on at home right before he would line up for a kick.

and he got hit in the head and concussed by an errant punt in practice. You can't make this stuff up. Kickers really are dorks. Anyone recall Jack Del Rio having his team swing an axe into a stump in the locker room to fire the team up? Jason Hanson (punter) somehow managed to near chop his own leg off and went on IR. Tell me any MLB or DE would mess up like that or get hit in the head w a punt.

I remember when everyone thought Caleb Sturgis was one of the best kickers in the NFL. Against the Colts right before halftime he hit a 50+ yard field goal right down the middle with plenty of distance. He was iced and had to do it again, and nailed it the same way. That was when I thought he was amazing. Then I remember he missed one short fg and then kicked the ball out of bounds on a kickoff and wasn't the same after that.
