Shortly before the Dolphins departed for South California, where they’ll be for the next 1 1/2 weeks, their locker room was an obstacle course, littered with 1) equipment bags each player stuffed with cleats, gloves and other gear and 2) personal pieces of luggage, since this will be one of the longest stretches the team has been away from South Florida.
Receiver Kenny Stills should find making himself at home in Cali much easier than others. He grew up there and plans to have a healthy section of the team over to the family home one night for dinner, thanks to his mom.
“Oh yeah,” Stills said. “I told her we’re going to have all the receivers over and (Ryan) Tannehill and hopefully all the skill-position guys to go to my mom’s house for a little Mexican fiesta.”
Shrewd move by Stills. The fiesta is for the receivers, with running backs mixed in, but he made a special point of noting that Tannehill also gets an invite.
“You’ve got to bring the quarterback,” he said.
