The Dolphins are about to undergo a serious study of all their available quarterback options. There are different ways the team might fill its need depending on how serious the personnel department views that need.
Fales got first-team repetitions in practice this week and Gase is preparing Fales to play. The final decision whether to use Fales is apparently not yet made because, and ultimately, the game will dictate whether Fales sees the field because Gase still wants to win.
But Gase also wants the option of playing Fales because he doesn’t want to conclude this season without having a solid evaluation of what Fales can do in a regular-season game. And Sunday presents that last opportunity.

Just plain stubborn arrogant belligerence not to start Fales on Sunday. Gase is young, and has continually made young man bad decisions. He is about to make another one.

Well we get to see what the kid can do.

Definitely wanna see Fales against guys that's been playing the whole season long. I think Id have an idea of how that'd go, but Cutler is more than obcilite atp.

Happy that they are finally moving on from Moore, at least a couple years too late, imo. Fales was up and down in preseason so I am looking forward to seeing him with live ammunition, still hoping to use the phrase "epic Fales" at some point...

What happened to the "guys are playing for their jobs" message? We don't care about winning anymore just one week later?

I don't know, its an interesting dilemma. Do you treat this like a playoff game to end the season, or do you treat it like a preseason game. Either way you can learn about your team. Out of respect for the league and our opponent you probably should treat it like a playoff game. On the other hand it would be much more devastating to Bill fans if we not only win, but win without really trying.

Fales threw maybe the only quality deep ball all season

It sure was the best one

I think it's a good idea. Fales had some moments in preseason and Matt Moore can't play forever. Might as well find out if they have anything there.

Fales sucks. If we want to replace Moore we need to look elsewhere.

I think this is it. I don’t think any coach is holding back good players guys. My guess is practice proves Cutler and Moore are better than Fales. I hate, “start player X because he can’t be any worse”. These staffs should know what they have.

Looks like Gase isn't planning to win this game with all the back ups he's putting in. It's a regular season game, I'm not sure how I feel about it. We have the opportunity to play spoiler against a hated AFCE rival. Then again, the draft spot will be important the minute after the game.

I agree and if they were convinced Fales was worthless, he probably wouldn't even get this opportunity.

QB SEARCH:

Is he healthy? Yes...search done.

Yep . . . But that contingency plan we have in case he has a setback is arguably the most important offseason issue to address.

Seriously we have been down this road and not having some young potential at QB is probably the most fatal mistake the Tannenbaum/Gase/Grier combo has made in their tenure. It doesn't have to be round 1, but it can't be UDFA level either.

I am ok looking at Fales this week. May as well.
