Miami Dolphins moving from Van Noy and now Flowers makes sense

I think the only reason they were able to get off the hook for only 2 million with Flowers was due to them finding a trade partner. Otherwise he would have counted 10 million against the cap if cut. They got lucky on that one.
I don’t think they would have cut him if they had not been able to trade him. I think they would have at least kept him around as a backup for next season instead of just releasing him and taking a $10 million cap hit. .

He might not be a quality starting LG but he is still better than every backup offensive lineman they now have on their roster.

There was a poster who felt they would keep him on the bench next season and try and trade him during the season to a team who needed him due to an injury. I was happy yesterday when we traded him and did not have to wait for that situation to unfold.

Lol Pretty sure that was me

Exactly right...

We never intended to keep either player longer than two years...

The money had to be spent somewhere, there is an NFL minimum... yes, some of the money can be rolled over... but you need to spend most of it, by rule... and we didn't have any worthwhile young players to give it to.

We brought in a couple of older guys, overpaid them to be a bridge... then moved on when Van Ginkle and Kindley were surprisingly good.

The outrage merchants who come in here and howl and whine... need help. Maybe a new hobby.

"I'd rather be lucky than good" by Yogi Berra, a very good catcher.

We really whiffed in free agency last off season, little concerning. But least they are moving on quick.

I’m supposed to be perpetually outraged at everything because it’s 2021, but dropping expensive dead weight that maybe helped overachieve last year doesn’t outrage me. Let the young guys play.

Exactly, well said. I am unsure of any bad GM move in the past few months. Minkah had to be traded, he was tanking on the field or looked like it. The Grier haters do need a new hobby. We get to be excited draft night because of all the picks and possible future stars we get.

Got lucky but also created a hole that will take a top-64 pick to replace. Maybe that was the plan anyway, but instead of 'depth', this pick will be expected to start in 2021.

Picking up Fluker for 1 million may have been the backdrop for this trade involving Flowers.

Great point, forgot about him tonite but I literally mentioned Fluker as Flowers' replacement earlier today.
