No we have to beat the Jets because THEY ARE THE FREAKIN' JETS! AND ANOTHER THING, I WANT TO SEE FIRE MARSHALL BILL CURLED UP IN THE FETAL POSITION AND CRYING LIKE A LITTLE BABY!
DAVIE —

The Miami Dolphins are tied for the fourth-best record in the AFC with 10 games to play. If anybody out there remembers, is this how playoff contention feels?
“It’s really hard to say,” guard Richie Incognito said as the Dolphins returned from their bye and dove directly into Jets week. “We’re kind of in the thick of things, really just grinding away and preparing for our next game.
“We just have to handle our business. If we can collect as many wins as possible, we’ll control our own destiny. It’s nice to have a logjam. Everybody is equal right now.”
There are 10 more games to figure out exactly which teams are more equal than others. It’s a mistake to try to speed up that process. Heck, Dolphins sack star Cam Wake says it’s a mistake to be satisfied with 3-3.

“To be honest, within this building, I would think that the expectations haven’t been met,” he said. “We left two games literally sitting on the table. Five-and-one is a different conversation than 3-3. There’s nobody here that would say it would be a stretch to be 5-1. I mean, we were right there.
“In my mind, that’s where we’re supposed to be. Three-and-three is disappointing.”

I don't like the concept of declaring this game as a "season-maker".

Do I want us to beat the Jets? Do I think we can beat the Jets? YES!!!!!

Having said that we are a young team and we could lose. We have been competitive in all our games except the one quarter in Houston. We COULD have a bad game. Would that mean an unsuccessful season if we recover and grow? NO!!!!

I hope the team doesn't take this attitude. It's better to focus on just doing the job at hand than hyping up the importance of any game - even if it means beating the team that most of us want to beat more than any other.

Regarding this subject: A very wise man once told me a truly valuable piece of wisdom that I will never forget. And that piece of wisdom is....

JETS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand what you are saying and both agree and disagree. I agree that this season may just be about the future. And if that is the case then each game is more about getting better and developing for the future than it is putting together an exciting season.

However I disagree that this is another game. This really is the turning point in the season. The fans are as excited about dolphins football as they have been in a long time. There is hope, and a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. The AFC is wide open this year and we have a fairly easy schedule. But this is a game that we MUST win to have any realistic shot at a playoff position. You really can't get swept by your division rival and think you can make that up. And even more important is what it will do to the fan base. The fans need something to believe in, and year after year something good will happen only to have the bottom fall out and have our hopes dashed.

To be honest I would rather beat the jets and lose to Seatle and one other team before Seatle, than to lose to the jets and beat the colts, titians, bills and seahawks. This game really is worth two games. We will have to make up two games if we lose to the jets. It would probaby take at least a 5 game winning streak starting with the colts to get back to the feeling of excitement I personally feel right now.

For me this game will decide how I look at the rest of the season. If we win I will consider this a year that can be special. If we lose, it is a year of growth where we are better off getting a higher draft pick.

This season is about progress. That progress of the coaching staff, QB and younger players developing is what the year needs to about. However, we have our first chance to measure progress in comparing this week to the first Jets game. Finally, I do think the Jets are playing well the last few weeks. This will be a tough game. The Jets have played will a lot of pride lately.

Hey Cam, you could be 1-5 too. I see they are spreadiong that "could be 5-1" stuff to the players too. That's good, it means they probably think they are better thant hey actually are.

Apparently keyboards don't work in NY. But, you are what your record says you are which makes the Jets a group of losers at the moment.

I think its def a must win game.

Yep, a win against the Jets would be big. At 4-3 we would have our 1st chance to hit the midpoint of the season with a winning record in almost a decade.

It was 2003 when we were last 5-3 at the midpoint. You have to get to 4-3 before you can get to 5-3 so i hope they take care of business this week.

It could signal the end of a dark decade in Dolphin's history.

I like the Jets chances this week. We played an awful game against the Phins last time out but were able to squeak out the win. Since then with the exception of the 49er game, we've looked and played alot better. I looked at this as a must win before the Pats game and it's more so now. If we lose and go into the bye at 3-5, I'm not sure we recover from that. However if we win and go into the bye 4-4 and 3-1 in division, we have a legit shot at taking the division.

id say on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being an absolute win, this is a 9.

yes technically a loss we are still alive, we wont be eliminated from anything, so that is why it is a 9, but the reality is this game will go along way towards determining our season.

we win, 4-3, 1-1 in division, split with jets, and r looking at a real decent chance of being 6-3 heading into a pretty big divisional game in ralph wilson thursday night ( im not scared of the bills, but until we beat them, we cant write them off just yet).

a loss here would put us a game in a half back when u include the tiebreaker scenario.

hopefully jabar gaffeney gives us a lift, reggie bush looks like the reggie bush from the final 7 games of the 2011 season and first 2 and a half of this one. we need this

A loss in the division would hurt the Fins more than the Jets, but this has been a weird season.
