Today arrives with news that Bill Lazor not only didn’t call the plays on that final drive but also wasn’t thrilled or on board with them as quoted by David Hyde in the Sun-Sentinel.

“My irst thought was I wish we had made more first downs,” he said. “I thought when we stand up in front of the offense, and we tell them we want to play to win, play aggressive, play loose, and I think it’s our job to coach that way too. When coach makes certain decisions on how we are going to play the game, then I think the players appreciate giving them a chance to go win the game. We could have started taking a knee two drives earlier and run the clock earlier, but that’s not how you play.”

Was that a backhanded shot at Joe Philbin? Is Bill Lazor calling out his head coach? At some point if this trend continues Lazor will have to find something other than a backhanded swat as his career is on the line here

Question now is who goes first, Joe or Bill ????

Makes me wonder how many more times Joe has went over Bill's head on play calling.

It sounds like a swipe to me. Bottom line is Philbin is done and everyone is going to start positioning themselves for the head-lopping that will happen after the season. No way we make the playoffs, which is what we all know what it will take for Philbin to even have a shot to stay. Personally if Ross brings in a proven top guy like Harbaugh then he should be able to bring in his own assistants. I like Lazor and think he sees the writing on the wall and is looking towards his next job.

Jeez I have never seen so much infighting among coaches before. Seems like both Coyle and Lazor are openly criticizing Philbin more and more each week.

I could see how you can take bits and pieces of that quote and put a sarcastic tone on them to make it sound like he's taking a swipe but the quote, taken as a whole, sounds more like he's praising Philbin for staying aggressive to me.

Doesnt sounds like a jab at Philbin to me when you listen to the whole interview. Lazor's quote was a response to being asked about the last drive in general, not specifically about the 3rd and 9 running play call. He also said Philbin instructed him to be aggressive and go for the first down, so I believe this quote is being taken out of context. Besides, do you really think Lazor would take a public jab at his HC? That would be an insanely stupid career move imo.

Yep, people need to listen to the whole presser. He was actually supporting Philbin in his presser.

I think there will always be this type of positioning and in-fighting based on Ross' style of ownership/management.

It is basically the same situation as when:

Parcells left,

followed by the Ireland Sporano fiasco,

and then the Ireland wanted the other guy for Head Coach issue,

and then Ireland versus Philbin.

I was willing to support giving Joe one more year. It only took him three games to lose me. Good job, Joe. You've flushed an entire season of Dolphins football down the toilet by being a stubborn moron who sticks to self-imposed personal rules regardless of how inappropriate they are in a given situation.

I usually try to be supportive of the coach but you know what? **** Joe Philbin. I'm sure the Packers will welcome you back as the team PowerPoint editor with open arms.

I think Lazor realizes what a ***** he works for. I mean, to use a game from last season as an excuse for not being aggressive is about as bush league as it gets.
