There's still one more preseason game and a round of cuts to bring the roster to 53 players but the Miami Dolphins' offensive line seems to have come together for the Sept. 13 regular-season opener.

That offensive line against the Washington Redskins (barring a major upset or setback) will be: LT Branden Albert, LG Dallas Thomas, C Mike Pouncey, RG Jamil Douglas, RT Ja'Wuan James.

Yes, expect Albert as the starter in his first game back since he blew out a knee at Detroit last November. There was uncertainty about that issue over the weekend, but with more work this week with the first-team line, no less, Albert's status is looking stronger for the opener.

Indeed, one source tells me Albert looked quite good in practice Tuesday. So barring an unexpected setback, he'll be the left tackle.

The worst-kept secret of the offensive line is the replacing of Billy Turner at right guard with rookie Jamil Douglas. As The Herald's Barry Jackson noted, Douglas pulled ahead of Turner after the preseason game Saturday.

By today players throughout the locker room, including Douglas, were talking about how Douglas is the new starter at the position. And with starters not playing at all or very little against Tampa Bay in the preseason finale Thursday, the lineup isn't going to change.

Douglas is the right guard.

Turner, who had been the starter at right guard most of camp, said he had not been told of the change. Well, if that is true, he should have gotten the message when he took practically no first-team snaps in practice.

"I'm still getting reps," Turner said. "I'm working in practice in the areas I need to work at in the reps I get. I did some thing well. I did some things poorly ... I'd love to be better. Who wouldn't? There's things in my pass pro I want to get better at. There's things in my run technique I want to get better at. I wouldn't say there's one specific thing."

Coach Joe Philbin, playing his coy card, said no decision has been made as to who is starting at guard. But he was much more effusive in talking about Douglas than Turner today.

"He made some plays in space," Philbin said of Douglas. "He's played pretty decisive for a young guy, he's picked up the system well. He's done some good things."

Good news on the Brandon Albert front.

surprisingly pleased with the Albert news.... i thought they would be more cautious with his return.

I want Albert back week 3. Fox or Thomas can handle whatever **** player Washington or Jacksonville throws at us

At this point just keep Billy Turner as a back up tackle

hard to imagine with all the injuries, Mathis talk and quality of players we thought we had, that this is the line - the same line we envisioned in the spring. With the exception for Turner, patience is a virtue

Guys. Even if Alberts was to star week 1, I'd not expect him to play every snap. Even if the injury is totally healed, there's no way he has the stamina yet to be able to play the whole game without having played in the pre season at all. I'd say he might play 20 or so snaps instead of 70. They need to get him back in game shape. Maybe by week 3 or 4he might be anle to go the whole game.

Ozzy rules!!

I don't get to see the preseason games since I live in Massachusetts and I don't have NFL network. Can anyone tell me how Douglas has looked and held up so far in the games?

The thing is we're probably going to have to replace Albert sooner rather than later, possibly even at some point this season. If Turner can develop into a starting tackle that could be huge for us, especially if we get another year out of Albert. We won't have to even think about drafting o-line in 2016 and o-line worries could be a thing of the past (yeah-right).

Turner and Douglas is a toss up but, does give some pretty good depth at OG no matter who wins. Both will be better as the season moves on. I'm not about to give up on Turner, same as not giving up on Dallas.

Not bad for a rookie but below average overall. He is developing and has shown some improvement. Remember that we, who have seen the games, only have a total of about one games worth of snaps to judge. It's not much.

First snap against the Falcons I saw him get to the second level blocking, which is always a good sign.

We'll see what he's made of, if he's a true competitor he will take this demotion as motivation to bust his ass and hopefully become that much better as a result. Despite some early whining Rishard Matthews did just that and improved quite a bit - lets hope we can get the same out of Turner, he's only starting his 2nd year so he certainly can improve.
