Offense:

obviously starting with the Offensive Line here.... Disgusting.

Besides Pouncey and James, who both played very well from what I saw, Thomas was just simply horrid in pass blocking and getting popped at the line backwards run blocking. He couldnt do anything as the DL easily flowed and filled to stuff our running game consistently.

Fox was atrocious. His back steps are more like hop steps or skip steps in the passing game, he has no lateral movement or base... he got consistently destroyed.. .therefore, Tannehill does as well. Fox was a complete disaster all game.

Thomas gets a bye!!!

with our offensive line playing like this we only ran the ball 7 times with Miller, Tanny was sacked twice, with 8 QB hits, and a fumble.

now for the running game we started to mix it up a bit once again... lining up under the center.. getting our OLine moving forward and down with more head to head blocking, being the aggressor, and look at our running game compared to in the shotgun with the read option style running game. (those of you that work with the gifs, videos, numbers if you could figure out the differences would be awesome). But, out of the shotgun we are once again seeing our OLine blocking more finesse, on their heals getting pushed back and all over.... no room still, no lanes or area for Miller. Its extremely frustrating!!!

To continue with the offense, is more on the play calling now. there is nothing creative no more. We dont play-action when we should, we dont move Tanny around in the pocket, or move him from blitzes, we dont have crative route running it seems... pick plays? motions to create match-ups.... it all just seems absent from last year.

look how Buffalo came out on the first drive, play action roll-outs, beautiful set up to a guy crossing under the line to the right, working Clay all over as we used too, etc... all passing, all moving Taylor around (yes we didnt pressure well at all)... but that was a great drive with creative set-ups and vision to accomplish!!!

we pitch it to Landry on third and short after he is tired from working his ass off and getting drilled after many targets and catches? late in the game and in the red zone we pound it out from under center, running the ball for a great first down. but then go back to the shotgun and pass 4 times with no play-action, and no real great play set-ups... just trying simple routes and throwing the ball up, as Tanny is under complete pressure as always killing the timing... and not even running once??? its FRUSTRATING!!!

Tanny didnt have a great game obviously, didnt have a horrid game either though. with once again NO OLine, NO running game, under pressure in his pocket constantly... he delivered many good reads and throws. First INT was Landry's fault sadly... easily seen by watching his eyes completely turn upfield before he watched it in his hands and secured it. The screen play INT Tanny should of eaten the sack basically... the play was BLOWN up completely with so much pressure up the middle, and great read by the Brown to jump in front for the pick, Tanny prob didnt see him trying to release that quick as he died. The pick by Darby, was a GREAT defensive set-up against our offense there ,with an overloaded blitz from the left (where they were destroying Fox and Thomas all game anyways, shifting Buffalos safety and Darby after snap into a two deep zone, as the CB went into the flat... Tanny chucked it up to what he though was an open WR, but right into Darby's hands as he rotated into his area right to the ball. Lots of pressure, poor read and decision by Tanny!!!

any Thoughts? any comments or discussions?

There is nothing to discuss but what QB do we draft, and that is in the draft subforum.

i was actually hoping to get away from that stuff in this thread and actually discuss football more

Brazzi's short time here has shown him to be s bumbling idiot. Just a troll.

But yeah the offense is screwed with this OL. We absolutely need to put Douglas back at LG and get Turner in at RG (and backup tackle reps)

We're just so handcuffed right now and then coaches don't address ****. The coaching staff needs a major shake up

definitely... especially without the guys the staff was hoping to develop this year and pan out, nothing has shown. Turner needs the chance, Thomas is a disaster. We really are hurting OLine.

Albert needs to get completely fit like NOW!!! lol

And also wtf is this decision to keep having Turner inactive? If there's an injury we'd really rather put linkenbach out there? REALLY?!

He could've helped out by playing an as extra OL. This staff is just full of bad decisions. Phillips was also inactive... Thought he had been playing decent

It really doesn't matter what they do to shake up the offensive line, there just isn't enough talent there, and crappy depth. Tannehill knows it too. See him today all beat up, grass stains all over from getting the crap kicked out of him? I think he reached a point and said f-it im just throwing it up so I don't eat turf again.

i never seen him so stained up before in my life. and yeah our line depth and lack of talent is definitely a disaster.

but as Travis said above too, why is Turner inactive? he needs to get his chance in there.... or is he just not even developing or panning out like the staff wanted, basically like Thomas isnt?

I have two major issues with our offense (strategically) at this point.

1) The first is that we haven't made a real effort to attack defenses deep or on the outside. Every pass play is either a slant, arrow, or quick out to Landy or Mathews. Teams know that they can just sit on those routes and tee off. I felt like this when Dan Henning was calling plays. We need to get Stills and Parker involved and start using all of the field.

2) We haven't had any sort of commitment to the run game. We've gotten out to slow starts in every game and then we abandon the run game. This offense is supposed to be run heavy. The pass game is supposed to be generated off of play action. And more importantly, our offensive line isn't good enough to be playing pass protection for the entire game.

If we commit to the run and start going deep and outside I think we can be successful. And then the middle of the field will open up again and Landry and Cameron can really thrive.

Agreed on all of that^^

Parker seems to be getting more reps though but it's better for us to have him out there than Jennings imo

we abandon that running game way to fast.... once again i want to see the numbers of how we did under the center compared to out of the shotgun

also as i said, i agree we need to paly action more, we seem to use it at worst of times... we need to move tanny around more as well, and move him with reads from the blitz.... many things to start doing.

great words

and yes Parker is going to definitely get more opportunities soon... he looked good!!!

We have a real dilemma because it's obvious that what we're doing on offense isn't working, but the biggest problem we have on offense (run and pass game) is that we can't block anyone. How do you call an effective offense for a team that can't keep a runner from being hit in the backfield and can't keep the quarterback from being deep-sixed?

I just don't know. I mean, we can't just change the entire offensive scheme at this point, but then maybe we should have thought of that going into the season with so many question marks on the OL?

Drafting a quarterback next year would be idiotic unless it was for backup. Tannehill deserves to have at least a formidable O line and competent coaches to prove himself. It's not like there's anyone who has a remote chance of being better than him in next years draft either so no matter whether you like him or not he is our QB. It's not like half the league wouldn't take him in a heartbeat either.
