New faces include Joey Porter, Ted Ginn, Samson Satale, John Beck, Cory Schlesinger, Lorenzo Booker, Drew Mormino, Reagen Mauia, Paul Solia, Abraham Wright, Kelvin Smith, David Martin, Mkristo Bruce Brandon Fields, Cam Worrell, Mike Rosenthal, Chris Lewienski, Jay Feeley, but noone may be bigger than the recent trade for Quarterback Trent Green. Going into last offseason our biggest needs were at OLB, OLINE, Quarterback, Wide Receiver and Head Coach.

Nick Saban simply put was full of bologna and didn't have what it takes to be an NFL coach. He didn't get the same respect he received from his college boys at Michigan State and LSU and just couldn't cut it. Saban had a college mentality and wanted full control when in reality he had no control. The Dolphins retain defensive guru Dom Capers and then hired offensive guru Cam Cameron to be their Head Coach. This move automatically upgrades our team because play calling was a downfall for our team last year and Cam has one of the best offensive minds in the game. Cam will get the best and help players such as Chris Chambers and Ronnie Brown reach their full potential. I think Ronnie Brown benefitsfrom this move more than anyone. Cam immeditaly made his pressence felt by releasing underachieving offensive linemen such as Bennie Anderson, Jeno James, and terminatin ghte inconsistent tight end Randy McMichael. Cam put his foot down on Ricky Williams when he fialed another drug test andit's about time,. Every year,m we as Dolphin fans become optimistic with the return of Ricky Williams and he consistently lets us down. No More now that Cam Cameron has told Ricky to take the high road. Daunte Culpepper just can't get healthy and although it's a shame we lost a 2nd round pick on him, we got that pback in a steal from the Patriots for an overchiever in Wes Welker. Free agency opened and we signed athletic tigh end David Martin, offensive line depth in Chris Lewienski and Mike Rosenthal, special teams aces in Az Hakim and Cam Worrell, a hole creating FB in Cory Schlesinger, and a superstar linebackerin Joey Porter. Ronnie Brown will greatly benefit from the addition of Schlesinger. Poter comes to a Miami Dolphins defense whick ranked 4th in the entire NFL in the 2006 season. Adding Porter to a Miami Dolphin defense that already has the likes of Zach Thomas, Channing Crowder, Vonnie Holliday, Keith Traylor, and Defensive Player of the Year Jason Taylor is simply remarketable. Porter is a leader on and off the field and brings this team an attiude and energy that it has lacked for a long long time. Not to mention that he is a pass rushing deamon who will reak havoc all year. Matt Roth is young and hungry monster who comes in and is an instant upgrade over the ageing Kevin Carter. Rid Wright, a potential 1st round pick ebfore injury, comes to the team andhas looked sharpe at both defensive end and defensive tackle. We got rid of the cry baby Manny Wright, and have youngsters such as Fred Evans, Paul Solia, and Rod Wright to come in play. All 3 young defensive tackles are 1st round talents who will be big contributors this year. Travis Daniels comes back healthy and is our best DB when he is healthy,. He and Will Allen should be our starting corners. Jason Allen makes the switch from saftey to corner but bottom line is that Jason Allen has the ability and instincts to be a play maker in this league. Jason Allen has looked great this offseason and should contribute as the nickel back and eventually start. Hilla ndBell are solid at safteys.

Then we hit it big in April's Draft. In the 1st round we passed on the overrated Brady Quinn and took the most explosive player in the draft in ted Ginn. Ted Ginn gives us a bg play threat as a retruner and as a wide receiver. The guy makes big plays and thats what we lack. In Round 2 we get John Beck who i personally think is the 2nd best QB beehind Jamarcus Russell. eck reminds me of Drew Brees and now will have a year or two to learn behind Trent Green. Samson Satale gives us a great offensive linemen who can run block and pass block. Lorenzo Booker gives us the perfect complement to Ronnie Brown. Paul Solia was a steal in round 4. Abe Wright, Kelvin Smith, Reagen Mauia, Drew Mormino, and Brandon Fields should all make the team and contribute.

Now the biggets move was acquiring Trent Green. Green is efficient and a brilliant passer. He is smart with the ball and he already knows Cams' system. Green will have weapons with Booker, Chambers, ginn, brown, and the emerging Derek Hagan. The Fins will be good in 2007, real good. They still are interested in acquiring Pete Kendall if he is released and if they do the team won't have any glaring holes. 12-4 is my predictions. Go ahead and doubt but when we travel to Washington DC opening game and the ball is in Ted Ginns hands and your heart is in your throat because the guy is always a second away from breaking one, you will know what I mean.

The more I see ...

The more I think this coaching staff has it's act together, way more than any we've had recently. While I don't always agree with the specifics (player), I agree with what they are doing in general (addressing the most critical needs, building from the lines out). What they are doing makes a lot of sense! In past years we could never figure out which way we were headed, and it seemed like the staff couldn't either.

And here's a nugget I haven't seen posted yet (I know a lot of you hate LeBetard), but from his article on June 6:

SOME GOOD NEWS
Still, there is good news: ESPN's Chris Mortensen has seven coaches and GMs he consults on quarterback prospects. They've had an excellent track record of projecting greatness with him over the past decade. And most of them told him that Beck is not only better than Quinn, but that Beck is ready to be elite faster than any other quarterback in this draft.

There are a couple of different things that stick out about this offseason and the players we aquired.

1. Look at alot of the guys we got, they are "football players". Take Corey Schlesinger for example. Despite playing in Detriot his whole career he nevers takes a play off. He dosen't play or not play because he's winning, he plays for the love of the game. Joey Porter is the guy you want in the locker room to hype up your team. Hard nosed, non stop motor type of guy who brings toughness on and off the field. Ted Ginn Jr. is the type of player who is not just one dementional. He can return kicks and punts, play the slot, and eventually be a number one target. His speed in uncanny and that's part of why the Dolphins got him. Another character guy as well.

2. Cam was making a statement by going offense with all first day picks. We all know we are a good offense away from being contenders but not every coach can see that(Saban). By investing heavy in the offense we might be competitive sooner than later. The Trent Green trade is just another investment in building the offense and with some protection Green could be a huge help to us. It will all depend on how quick the team can gel.

I still don't understand how this Trent Green move puts us "over the top" and playoff bound. I'm a supporter of the trade, like Trent Green, and wanted him here. However, he still have some serious issues with the OLine, and we still have the some "non" playmakers on offense we had last year (Ted Ginn and David Martin should help however) and don't have a very good Secondary. Those are things that have to improve before this team can have playoff aspirations.

It dosen't put us over the top persay but it does give us some much needed stability at the QB position. Think about this way, we have a guy who knows how to take of the ball and can read defenses. We also still have Dante who if indeed is healthy there is a chance he could come back to form. We also have two developmental guys in John Beck and Cleo Lemon who could pay dividends later. We at least have options now more so than we did two days ago.

Everything sounds great in your post though I disagree with most of it. Training camp, preseason and the season are up next to see who is right and who is wrong in their opinions. Did Wayne hire boys or men to run the team in regards to Cam/ Mueller. Good news we are about to find out so we can get on with it!

I do think DC should stay and compete with Green. I have my worries that DC is healthier then he has ever been and now we are letting him go. If the salary cap permits, keep him for a year and let them compete.

The biggest thing about this season than past season's is it appears our oline will be working together though out all the camps and form that important bond with the guys around them that really hasn't happened in years past. Always were moving guys here and there and bringing in new guys weekly to try and plug them in.

I am not that concerned about the new guys as I would if they weren't in camp and not showing the skills to be an NFL lineman that they seem to be so far. Should be interesting to watch them gel once the pads go on and the hitting takes place. Baring injuries, just like all other teams, we should be much improved. Plus with Cam's offense of quick passes and slants the oline shouldn't be asked to hold their blocks near as long as years past.

It was a decent offseason but no A+... The position we were in dire need of (qb) wasnt really addressed... A rookie in john beck and an old fart in trent green...

i dont know why or how we cant wait for culpepper but we were willing to draft a rookie at 9 with a broken foot and willing to wait it out for him. I have a feeling Cpep will do some damage any other team he lands with and we are going get bit in the *** once again...
