Miami Dolphins OL Lydon Murtha: 'I believe it's my time'

Johnathon Martin will start. Lydon Murtha will be his backup...Book it!

Guys it not like we cann't use 3 good tackles. There are always injuries . One starter and one backup for both tackle spot.

Seems to me that Incognito would be moved to his natural position of right gaurd and Jerry or Murtha winner would be left gaurd. Long can assit left gaurd inexperience while Incognito can help J. Martin at right tackle.

Murtha needs to make it through a season without getting hurt before he can lay claim to a starting spot. I really believe it was Sparano's plan for him to start last season at RT, and his injury lead to the Columbo disaster.

Pouncey is the Dolphin OL with bust potential. He was taken waaaayyyyy higher in the draft than Martin and finished last year ranked 30th in pass protection giving up 21 cumulative pressures.

Second round picks don't need to start their first or even 2nd year, but guys taken with the 15th pick in the draft need to start and play well from the get go.
I see you post the same ranking over and over in every thread concerning the OL. It seems you have something against Pouncey and that 30th pass protection ranking from whatever source seems to be all you've got on him... Im in no way shape or form calling you out, but I'd like to hear what you think about his run blocking ability, or wether he made the correct calls on any given play... In other words, his OVERALL play...

Our Pouncey is not his brother. They played together for many years and our Pouncey was always the RG beside him. He has only been a center for two seasons.

I know who Pouncey is... And although I agree his pass pro wasnt up to par, I thought he was pretty good at run blocking and did very well overall as a rook. Elliot1 always brings up the pass pro issue without even talking about his overall game, which I thought was pretty good for a 15th overall pick.

Well it's now or never for Murtha. He's been in the league long enough so if he plans on being a starter then the time is NOW. He better be working his ass off in training camp.

When I re-watched what Murtha did in 2010, I came away more impressed with him than I thought I'd be.

However, I did not feel any more comfortable with him as a tackle. His hands still weren't good enough to consistently be relied upon to protect against pass rushers. There are an increasing number of highly capable rushers that rush over right tackle and Miami just got one of those guys plopped onto a division foe in Mario Williams.

What Murtha had going for him that I loved was all that lower body explosion and burst. The guy could almost play tight end. As a tackle, he can reach the back side cutoff block. Also in short yardage situations he uses the combination of explosiveness and length to drive low at defensive linemen and really push them.

What I wondered is how he'd look at Guard where he won't asked to tend as much net in pass protection, so to speak, and he can use that lower body explosion and frame to get out to the second level very quickly and be a moving wall, and his explosiveness off the snap may also help him move people in more power situations.

The down side is he's 6'7" and if you have the 6'1" Garrard starting, that could be a factor.

Maybe our line could be Long-Murtha-Pouncey-Incog-Martin?

Richie to his more natural spot as everyone says, and then Murtha could play guard between Long/Pouncey which wouldn't hurt. Hopefully the right side would be able to hold up though.

Even if Garrard was trying to look over him, eventually, it will be Tannehill, where it becomes less of a factor imo

Sorry to hijack, but I'm curious what you thought about Massie CK? Why the slide?
