It's Miami's time of year.

What better place to find solace from Winter's misery than beautiful South Beach in February? What better place for an available NFL player to set himself up for life than Dolphins headquarters in March?

Perennially a paper champion in free agency , the 'Fins recently jettisoned several expensive veterans to clear salary-cap space for yet another shopping spree.

"From what I understand, I would not be surprised if they make a pretty big splash," NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said on Monday's edition of Good Morning Football.

You can read the rest...it's just making me upset. It's deja vu all over again. This team will never learn and never move forward as long as they continue to have idiots in charge.

Don't forget the rumoured trade for a big name corner! And the picks spent on Carroo!

But at the end of the day, we can't draft for **** anyway so :idk: might as well just blow the cap, every now and then an expensive free agent plays half decently

I don't get how signing good players is a bad thing. Overpaying guys is another story but I don't know anyone who thinks signing Suh was a mistake.

Injuries aside signing Isa Abdul Quddus seemed smart. If I had to do all over again I would've signed Branden Albert as well.

Were not the Patriots. No one is. Signing good players doesn't cost us draft picks last time I checked.

As long as we acquire the right player's at the right price, splash away.

I wish Ross would fire Tannenbaum, because he seems to believe football teams are built in FA and not the draft.

What does free agency have to do with the draft?

All 32 teams build through the draft.

Same old rhetoric.

Because I've yet to see Mike show any sign he believes the draft is how you build a team. But that's just my opinion.

This article is dumb. Every team signs free agents. If you have a glaring hole at a position that a FA can fill.... Why not sign him? As long as you have a plan on how that player will fit into your system and you don't break the bank. I think it's smart.

Need to get at least one starting LB, a starting G and a serviceable S in FA. And maybe some corner depth. No need for a huge splash, just a solid FA. If that "splash" includes the top G in FA I'm down.

Eh , other than signing Suh, when's the last time we made a "splash"?

Suh is now 30, his cap hit is 26 million this year and he has proven unable to even carry a bad run D on his own nevermind an entire D. That particular splash is really going to have to start paying off one of these days, despite playing well as an individual, he has utterly failed to elevate the defense in his first 2 years

Albert and Wallace were both the top FA targets the year we signed them I believe. I think it was 3 years running we signed the most expensive guy. Worked out awesome ...

I don't want a splash unless that includes getting the top 2 FA guards on the market. Midlevel signings like an aj Klein per se is what I'm looking for. Also expect them to replace stills with a cheapish deep threat.

For whatever reason, the national sports media considered the Mario Williams signing last year as a "splashy" signing, but in reality, it was just a prove-it type of deal that didn't work out, but it far from ruined the season. I think they just like playing the "told you so" game since he didn't work out. Same with Julius Thomas this year. He's a "splashy" name, but again, it's more of a reclamation project-type signing, like Jordan Cameron. If it works out, great, but it's not going to be a cap-killing bust if he doesn't work out and hopefully costs nothing more than a 7th. Not to defend Tannenbaum's approach, but ESPN, NFLN, is just waiting to say here-we-go-again and pounce whenever the Dolphins start sniffing around a big name or formerly big name in free agency.
