Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
I am back in Baltimore, Maryland due to a work emergency so I have a new idea which I think will be pretty fun. I have created a MiamI Dolphins Power Rankings which will rank the top 25 players ont the team in order of value based on performance, leadership, impact plays, and solid practice. I will change this on a weekly basis every Monday morning until they end of the football season. Here are my initial rankings
1. Chad Pennington: Pennington brought stability to the Quarterback position for the first time in the post-Marino era of the franchise. He was 2nd in MVP voting and was the 2008 NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
2. Joey Porter: The leader of this franchise had a career year with 17.5 sacks which led him to Pro-Bowl honors. Porter was a serious candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year
3. Ronnie Brown: The main component of the wild-cat scored 10 touchdown's last season and made his first trip to Hawaii. Brown looks to be in great shape thus far in camp and I am expecting big things.
4. Jake Long: The #1 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft earned Pro-Bowl honors in his rookie season which is very impressive. Jake Long looks to have an even better sophmore season.
5. Anthony Fasano: A little high here? I don't think so. Fasano scored 7 touchdowns in 2008 and is developing into a top tier tight end in the game.
6. Will Allen: This guy was a pro-bowl snub in my opinion. He was great in coeverage and made some big plays that included a pick six against Jay Cutler and the Broncos.
7. Ricky Williams: Love him or hate him he was very productive in 2008 and came to camp in great shape again this year. His production might fall a little in 2009 but name me a better BACKUP Running Back.
8. Justin Smiley: When we played Baltimore in the playoffs it was obvious how much we missed this guy. He was playing at a very high level before his injury.
9. Jason Ferguson: This guy is an absolute warrior and a big time component to our turn around. We need him in the middle and we need him healthy.
10. Akin Ayodele: This guy wasn't suppossed to be a playmaker but did record two interceptions in 2008. He was very solid for us in the middle.
11. Channing Crowder: Crowder is poised for a breakout year in 2009 and seems to be healthy for the first time in awhile.
12. Vernon Carey: I am glad we resigned this guy who will combine with Jake Long to form one of the best Tackle tandems in the league.
13. Dan Carpenter: This guy was simply money all year.
14. Tedd Ginn Jr.: This guy is developing into a playmaker BIG TIME! In Weeks 16 against the Chiefs and Weeks 17 against the Jets Ginn showed why Cam Cameron and company were so high on him. He has worked hard this off-season to improve his route running and should be much improved in 2009.
15. Yeremiah Bell: Didn't make as many plays in 2008 as I would have liked but it was good to see him back from his ACL injury.
16. Davone Bess: Undrafted? How? This guy is Wes Welker 2.0 in the slow. He is also valuable as a kick returner.
17. Greg Camarillo: Less than 8 months removed from an ACL surgey Camarillo is out there running around with the first team. Work out warrior. Someone tell greg to leave the gym it's 3 am.
18. Jake Grove: This guy was brought in at a steap price to own the opposing defensive tackles. I like what I see thus far.
19. Patrick Turner: Our most impressive rookie through camp thus far. Great size, great routes, great hands.
20. Shawn Murphy: This guy went from inactive to starter. Hard-Work pays off.
21. Cameron Wake-Getting serious pressure but must learn how to finish
22. Sean Smith-He is going to be special
23. Vontae Davis: Keep working youg man; recorded his first INT yesterday in practice
24. Chad Henne: Showing glipse of why he is the Quarterback of our future.
25. Pat White: Needs to show more consistency but is the ultimate play maker
