DAVIE – Ryan Tannehill is enjoying his freedom.

Coach Adam Gase has given the Dolphins’ fifth-year quarterback the green light to audible at the line of scrimmage and calls is “a great feeling.”
“We have a big toolbox,” Tannehill said following Tuesday’s practice. “Coach Gase allows me to get up there and equips me with plays that we can change at the line and get into a good look. It’s a great feeling to have and it’s going to help us throughout the year.”
Tannehill, who is entering his fifth season, said he has started calling audibles “a few times” each practice period.
“Whether it’s an alert we have or a small adjustment,” Tannehill said. “Not too often are we going to just scratch everything that we have called and go to something else. We’ll definitely make adjustments and change maybe the side, inside outside, or protection or route concept.
“I’m excited. It feels good. It’s exciting for us as an offense. It’s going to help us throughout the year, put ourselves in a good position to make plays.”

I sure hope his newfound freedom to audible truly helps the team.

Omar's recent article said he is still the same ol Tannehill. This guy needs to get it together before the season. You read all about Ryan always studying the play book, coming in early, staying late. C'mon Ryan, it's your 5th year. Let's get it together here.

This coincides with an interview I heard on Sirius this morning about something that happened in London. There were 2 plays that were specifically drawn up for Davante Parker in the redzone to take advantage of his height. We actually got into the redzone and the coaches called those exact plays for Greg Jennings. Tannehill wanted to adjust the calls (I think one was a fade and one was basically a jump ball) but he was flat out told make the play work with who was there.

I'll never trust Omar with anything

I hope QB17 steps up his game this year, if not it's time to think about other options.

It's not too complicated ... Let your smart qb make decisions instead of pigeon holing the whole team into a bs scheme

But I'm glad he's having fun with it

why would ANY qb not have the freedom to change a play that they know will not work against that defensive alignment. just plain crazy... good riddance philbin and lazor

Even Omar says struggles are normal for a new offense.

But his opinion on things is always skewed.

Key word: Omar.

I think I see the problem...

Me too, think we should see less unchallenged pass rushers threatening to rupture RT's spleen before he even catches the snap.

I'm sure he will enjoy having a little more time to throw as well...

I think there are a lot of players, including RT, that have to step up their game. A lot of other players have underachieved...plenty of blame to go around
