Miami Dolphins Ready To Make Hard Cuts On Tuesday

Because right now O'Connell is probably better suited to play if needed

If our 3rd QB is needed this season, we are losing already and are not making the playoffs. What good would O'Connell do then, besides make us lose more? You guys count out Devlin as if you've seen him play. You havn't even heard how he is doing--and don't say that if he was doing good we would have heard something. All the other rookie QBs are playing now, but none is really doing good either--what can you expect from about 1 month of practice in the NFL. Sporano isn't serious about developing QBs right now... he is just concentrating on winning this year and keeping his job. Then what about next year?

Cut Long. Pro bowls be damned, the guy hasn't made a single block all preseason.

If Devlin were impressing with the snaps he was taking, he'd be getting some 3rd team reps over O'Connell. There isn't some conspiracy. Also, your logic is incredibly hard headed, because you're already shooting down any arguments I may make.

You haven't heard how Kevin O' Connell is doing! And DONT tell me it isn't because he is a pro bowler! He's never gotten a chance to play with 1st teamers!

(See how obnoxious that is? Don't do it in the future)

magoo...explain to me why you think fienga makes this roster and i haven't looked at the 2nd half of the bucs game yet is there something there on the tape to get excited about this kid and finally do you personally feel he should be on this 53 and why if so

cause thru the tape i've seen of him in the first 2 games he's a no brainer cut for me

Before camp broke and we were still getting reports of who was doing what, Devlin and O'Connell were getting the same amount of reps. IMO I don't think they plan on keeping either one on the roster. Just about every other team in the league have been playing their 3rd string QB in these preseason games except us...I think they intend to carry 2 QBs and use the extra roster spot for another position.

I'm expecting us to bring in the best OL, TE, RB, QB possible . . . so I would honestly cut these guys to 49

This puts it down to 49 . . . leaving room for a QB, TE, OL and a RB. Toughest cut was Will Allen and the fact I kept 8 DLinemen. I could see Miami making a trade with one of their DLinemen, keeping 7 and keeping Will Allen also. I definitely see them getting another QB though . . . this team has went down to the 3rd stringer twice in the last 2 years . . . and the OLine hasn't exactly been stellar in pass protection. They'll find a guy. Marvin Mitchell was another tough cut, but I think the versatility of Trusnick being able to move inside and his ability on special teams makes him a no brainer over Mitchell who wouldn't get any burn with Burnett/Dansby on this team

Pretty good work KD. But I do think after the cuts you made above, the ILB depth is very glaring. If either Burnett or Dansby can't play, I don't think I'm ready/trust insert Edds as a fulltime player yet.

True, but Trusnick is a ILB/OLB guy . . . and this regime has rolled with the trio of Crowder/Ayodele/Torbor in the past as the only 3 ILB's on the roster. But yea, Marvin Mitchell is a guy that could stick as that true 4th ILB. Maybe Francis gets the axe in favor of him, but I think they like Ike.

mitchell was playin with the first team kick units in the bucs game...i think that helps his cause for sticking...i think he'll be the 4th ilb unless we poach someone off cuts...but maybe they just wanted to see how he'd fare in that role

and yeah we better pray dansby or burnett don't get injured cause right now at least its a large dropoff to edds

b/t i think merling and possibly will allen were being showcased in the tampa game as trade bait...

please let it be WILL FRIGGIN' WORTHLESS SINCE HE'S BEEN HERE ALLEN!!!

his game is done. he is older, injured and not that good anyways. so let him go and give him time to hook up with another team. the jets would be my favorite place for him to land. more yds for brandon or brian!!!

Most definitely . . . I don't think there is anybody you can bring in that is going to make that dropoff any less to Edds, especially in terms of "ability in coverage". But thinking about this a little more, Mitchell probably will stick.

I'm counting 29 guys on defense . . . with the names Sapp/Allen/Carroll/Francis/Mitchell/Trusnick/Alexander/Culver/Baker/Fields/Wilson being the guys on the bubble. Assuming we go 25 on defense . . . 4 of those guys aren't gonna make this team.

I think Fields and Wilson are locks
We probably keep 2 of the 3 out of Sapp/Allen/Carroll (there is one)
Probably keep 1 of the 2 out of Culver/Alexander (thats 2)
And we we gotta keep 2 out of the 4 between Baker/Trusnick/Mitchell/Francis

Of course any cuts will be factored in as well.

Would make alot of sense, as they would keep Baker as the 7th DL and they would have 5 CBs with Nolan Carrol as the #4 guy and Sapp as the nickel.

i would have said columbo but tony is NEVER going to get rid of him.

only one way columbo leaves the field.......on a stretcher!!

funny to me how sparano has said [with others in the media and cowboys organization] he is still a pretty good run blocker but is having major issues at this point in his career with pass pro.

so, we are supposed to be more of a passing team now and he keeps the old guy who is strictly a run blocker? hmmmm....... .

i am starting to to believe those tony with a greasy cucumber and a sheep picture theories!
