Miami Dolphins Ready To Make Hard Cuts On Tuesday

i don't think carrolls in any danger...i think him and jimmy wilson are locks...merling was getting run on the first series with the ones...he was being showcased no doubt about it...will allen shows up and gets run early with the ones in the nickle packages i think that was on purpose also...to let others see him

i think one of fields or baker gets cut...not sure which one...i don't think they both make it unless merling gets traded...

culvers a cut...i can get him back if i have an injury at safety later...he'll be on the street and he just doesn't flash anymore

nate ness i thinks a cut either way but if he does have a shot will allen will have to be not on the 53 via either trade or cut...ness is the one i think who's in real trouble

i would have said columbo but tony is NEVER going to get rid of him.

only one way columbo leaves the field.......on a stretcher!!

funny to me how sparano has said [with others in the media and cowboys organization] he is still a pretty good run blocker but is having major issues at this point in his career with pass pro.

so, we are supposed to be more of a passing team now and he keeps the old guy who is strictly a run blocker? hmmmm....... .

i am starting to to believe those tony with a greasy cucumber and a sheep picture theories!

I'm so sick of getting Dallas' cast offs. The guy didn't even make it to the first round of cuts there, and he's supposed to do the job here?

How can we build a team into contenders with players who can't make squads anywhere else. No-one simply cuts really good players. Especially lineman.

please let it be WILL FRIGGIN' WORTHLESS SINCE HE'S BEEN HERE ALLEN!!!

his game is done. he is older, injured and not that good anyways. so let him go and give him time to hook up with another team. the jets would be my favorite place for him to land. more yds for brandon or brian!!!
yes, yes and Yes.
Chubbs

magoo...explain to me why you think fienga makes this roster and i haven't looked at the 2nd half of the bucs game yet is there something there on the tape to get excited about this kid and finally do you personally feel he should be on this 53 and why if so

cause thru the tape i've seen of him in the first 2 games he's a no brainer cut for me

A couple of reasons. The first thing you have to look at is numbers. It's easy to look at that group of players and say such and such a guy stinks and deserves to get cut but the fact is they're not going to cut all of the ones who stink. They're wouldn't be enough guys to field a whole line if they did!

Anyhow, outside of the offensive line starters, I saw them keeping three guys (eight total, which I think it what they kept last year but I could be wrong. Either way it seems like a good number). Garner and Murtha are locks to be backups, obviously, so it came down to John Jerry, Ray Feinga and Joe Berger for the last spot. Berger has hardly played in preseason but I feel like if Pouncey gets injured that they're comfortable with Incognito or Garner being the backups at center. So it came down to a swing player at guard, meaning it came down to Jerry or Feinga. And part of it was a gut feel thing, because I have not studied Feinga's play as close as I have Jerry's. But Jerry has just been so lazy, and so bad, and so disappointing that I know that if it were me at quarterback or running back, I would rather have Feinga in there -- who's a mediocrity, I know -- than Jerry, who's simply going to play sloppy and get you get killed.

Obviously, if they find another lineman out there on the waiver wire -- and it's hard to imagine they won't -- Feinga is the first guy to go. But it was those reasons above plus just a gut feeling that had me pick him over Jerry.

Edit: I mean, would it shock me to see them protect their investment and keep Jerry? No, of course not. But then what happens if they find someone on the waiver wire? I couldn't see them releasing anyone and nine offensive lineman is... goddamn, that's a lot of offensive linemen. It's a thing where -- if you're setting aside a roster spot for Jerry and saying 'this is for you even though you're not going to play' it really just makes the math tough at other positions. Feinga is a player you can actually play but is also a player you can lose if you find someone better.

i think you've nailed the reasons they'd let berger go...i guess i got to go key jerry and feinga from the panthers game and this coming thursday...isn't feinga though p squad eligible??? meaning we could stash him there promote him if need be and still look at other final 53 roster cuts

Could be. That could change things. But still, even if you let him go and keep Jerry, that's eight offensive linemen. Who do you cut if you bring someone in, or do you keep nine offensive linemen at that point? Because once you've decided to keep Jerry for reasons other than his play, you're probably not going to cut him no matter what.

i'm not sure they are ready to give up on jerry just yet...i could see if we bring in a vet colombo or carey gone...carey to get out from under that $2.5 mil even...but i also think sparanos gonna ride or die with colombo the starting right tackle...early at least

if its me i cut colombo and roll with garner and murtha at right tackle...carey i'd probably give a couple weeks on the squad to see if he's truly done

Trusnik will be Miami's best Special Team's coverage guy. That's why he was signed. He also can also play both ILB and OLB. He'll make the team easy. I hope they keep Mitchell but I don't know if he'll escape the numbers game. If the Dolphins believe that Kearse might get picked up by another team if he's placed on the PS, he makes the team over Fields. The Dolphins can use Baker, Starks, or McDaniel at NT in a pinch if Kearse isn't ready early on. I'd be interested to know if the Dolphins tried to get Cousins just released from Baltimore. Cleveland was awarded the waiver pick up. That 8 man OL spot will be filled by a released G after next weeks cuts. A TE will also be in the mix. Merling and/or Allen will be traded. Culver will be competing with Alexander for that fourth safety spot. My guess is it will be Alexander.

I heard that Kearse is a beast...I'd hate to cut him before we coach him up. Some other team will grab him - I read that Pittsburgh was at his college pro day and spoke highly of him as well.

pittsburghs already loaded up front on d....they will cut some good players...kearses upside and potential over fields on the 53 i could see that...

i agree trusnick due to specials is a lock

Me too. But with all appropriate humility, if it's me we aren't even having this discussion because I haven't made some of these colossal personnel **** ups. Colombo and Carey are going to stay and they're going to start. I'm pretty sure about that now. So if we're going to try and figure out the 53 I think we have to proceed from there. No offensive line coach turned head coach is going to move his veteran right tackle to guard and cut him because he couldn't make the transition in a few weeks. He's going to give it a while even if it kills his entire offense.

I honestly haven't watch alot of Kearse, has he looked real good in these preseason games?

We can afford to ride with some potential on this DLine over more polished guys. Either way I would expect he is inactive . . . as well as Baker and Fields.

i smell a kearse buccaneers game tale of the tape in my future...ha ha he probably got like 3 snaps or something for me to look at

Looks very athletic for a DT.
