Zipping up the Turnpike toward Davie, as the NFL world discussed Michael Vick, and Jets coach Rex Ryan playing Pepe LePew with his wife's feet, a thought hit me like James Harrison.

My goodness, the Dolphins define boring.

They are a bland team in a bland stadium with a bland record and an increasingly apathetic fan base. Change their team colors to beige and white.

Possessed by fear and a useless paranoia that hasn't helped them rise from the morass of inadequate mediocrity, the leaders of the NFL franchise representing one of the world's sexiest, eclectic, electric, exasperating metropolitan areas manages to unpack only that last adjective.

This coaching staff has squashed any dynamism out of the Dolphins' offense, which ratchets up the dull in their single game failures. As for the Dolphins' annual full-season failures, another 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 playoff-free finish awaits. Midfirst-round drafting position. Feel the yawn...

I couldn't agree more. The football purists on here will say "win games and everything will be ok", but in today's day and age you have to at least be a little bit flashy. Basically its a passing league now so you have to be able to sling the ball around the field a little bit. There's too much competition in the city of Miami to be boring.

The run-run-run-punt offensive philosophy is out dated. The Parcells player eval model still works pretty well, but the coaching model doesn't.

There is a reason Parcells has been a complete failure for almost 2 decades...

His model of building a football team (cornfed/slow/etc) is not working in this league.

Sad this is that we need a few years to rid ourselves of his mess...Another wasted decade coming up?

As much as I love the Fins . . . they have put me to sleep on more than one occassion this season.

Yeah, because the best team in the NFL (Patriots) sure are exciting and controversial!

Nah, the personel aren't that bad. They've done a pretty good job drafting and filing holes. Sure the Pat White pick was puzzling and they wiffed on Turner, but's the game of drafting talent. We've got Davis, Smith, Misi, Bess, Hartline, Long, etc. We just need a good QB and an updated coaching/offensive philosophy.

I don't think the article is promoting that the team be controversial. Just exciting.

And guess what? The Patriots are exciting.

The organization has reflected the image of the ownership. Huizenga will be called a "good" owner for various reasons. He DID try after all with his worst hire being Cam Cameron. To be honest... with Cams success as a OC it's not surprising. Cam just simply fell flat on his face.

But "safe", "Boring" are words that define our franchise.

I am curious to see how Ross handles this off-season. How he treads will be exactly how this team will be under his ownership. I don't think anything that happens in the last 2 games mean anything. It gets interesting come January 3rd.

The personnel aren't that bad but the model is horrible. Up until this yr, Dallas was doing okay. What surprises me is Sean Payton is part of the Parcells tree.Further, its not the players but the OC & more than likely HC.

How are the Pats exciting other than the Gun offense they run?

OH I don't know, how about being the highest scoring team in the NFL for starters. How about Tom Brady and MVP talk. How about the buzz there offensive lineman made for having a 71 yard KO return. How about having a Jet reject make plays vs the Jets. How about talking about how they got have wins vs every AFC playoff team. Plenty to talk about in Foxboro these days.

um yeah they actually are pretty exciting actually.....their defense creates turnovers and they consistently hang 30 points on the board. in addition, when they have a lead in a game they dont abandon the passing game.....in fact they make every attempt to pour it on and take the other teams will.....when it snows....what do they do? they run the ball like everyone else right?? nope THEY PASS MORE....also THEIR coach isnt afraid of his own shadow and he doesnt play for field goals.....in fact he goes for it quite a bit on 4th down INCLUDING possessions in his own territory

so guess what.....new england DEFINES what miami should be as a coaching model......something that we could only wish for.....but its a pipedream for dolphins fans. we get to deal with idiots like sparano

New OC, New QB. Those are the glaring needs.

The defense is ready to go.

We need to get rid of the old running backs and go with the Pats formula. Plug in a different cheap running back every year.

We also need some continuity on the offensive line. All the smash mouth running we do has worn them down. It's a passing league. Spread them out and use our receivers to our advantage. Maybe then Brandon Marshall will have more than 3 tds.

The wildcat was not boring but they ran out of ideas and defenses learn to defend it.
