Ive been thinking and wondering about if its possible the Miami Dolphins would relocate. This would be the worst thing that could ever happen, but with all the losing and how Wayne was willing to sell the team before Parcells came along, this could be a serious issue. Its happened before to many teams, i know this is possible of happening, but does anyone think it could or would happen?? Please share your thoughts, I would like to know.

It's always a possibility. People are kidding themselves if they think it can't happen to their team. If owners sell out and they can show that there's either A) not enought interest locally and/or B) they can have a lot more support in #'s and $$ at the new site . . . . . with all the stadium deals, tv contracts, city investments . . . . it's happened before and will happen again. I see it being a threat to a number of other teams before it would be the case in Miami, but you just never know.

It could happen, especially if the NFL insists on returning to Los Angeles and trying to nudging a franchise there. I will say this about Wayne - when he was close to selling, the #2 buyer was Jorge Perez who is a big shot in the Miami real estate market. It appeared he'd be the new face of ownership, in fact, it was Perez who leaked the coming sale to the press leaving Wayne upset. So, it appears when the time comes to sell majority share, he's going to make the effort to ensure the new ownership is as interested in the south Florida area as he is.

Wait, is this good or bad?

It doesn't happen often....4 teams moving in the last 20 years. And one of those was the Raiders moving back to Oakland.

While I agree that you should never say never......I wouldn't give it too much thought.

I'd like them to relocate.....

to a new stadium on the site of the Orange Bowl
I agree 100 PERCENT, IMO it is a huge issue where the miami dolphins play their games and what they play their games in. Bad location and an even worse stadium in terms of creating a winning atmoshere, NO HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE FOR OUR TEAM.

Horrible decisions made by previous regimes to build that stadium, what have we done since we moved there?? NOTHING!

we should ask bill gates how important it is to configure your stadium so its condusive to crowd noise.

i find it hilarius when people say that seatlle has great fans that are the loudest in the game..please, it has nothing to do with their fans and EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE CONFIGURATION OF THEIR STADIUM!..HMMMM BILL GATES PURPOSELY BUILT IT WITH THAT INTENTION, that guy must be pretty smart don't you think?

Man this topic hits me hard. i believe wholeheartedly that dolphin stadium is a major contributer to our bad football culture and pathetic identity.

That would be better.

As long as Miami Dolphins stay as the Miami Dolphins.
:bdh:

The NFL wouldnt want the Dolphins to move to LA. Miami's too big a market, even if it is flooded with retired New Yorkers. It would move a team with a smaller market imo.

I am not real sure about this, but I do not think they would move in the near future because they own their own stadium. I don't think many teams are like that, so I think that means there is no lease or anything, but I don't think many teams would abandon something that is worth maybe 300 million in order to enter into a lease somewhere else.

You hit the nail on the head here. The MiamiDade-Broward-Palm Beach market is up to well over 6 million people here. Even the retired New Yawkers eventually root for us. Too big of a market to move. BOTTOM LINE.
