The Miami Dolphins have tried to remain very committed to Jordan after two years on the team. However, the defensive star is still a mystery to the team as they try and evaluate his potential which could ultimately lead to him being released in the end. For one, Jordan stresses that he is a defensive end and needs the Dolphins to play him as such. The pro was drafted as a defensive end, but was switched to being a linebacker which did not thrill him.

Every coach of the Dolphins has stressed that positions will be evaluated and really, no one is safe from dismal. That includes Jordan. Right now, the former first-round pick has both Cameron Wake and Olivier Vernon ranking ahead of him at defensive end. If he fails to pick up the linebacker spot, Jordan is gone. According to PhinPhanatic.com, Jordan is a prime salary cap causality given his lack of production and $5 million hit next season. Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle confirms that Jordan will be evaluated for future use.

I have never seen a team draft as many players as we did in 2013 and not ONE of them stand out. They're all mediocre, same goes for the 2013 FAs. Just out of curiosity what is Mike Gilislee's deal? what is strenght really ?

We've had the biggest gaggle of incompetent coaching I've ever seen.

Wait I thought there was a cap HIT for cutting Jordan, not cap savings. Can someone confirm?

DJ's contract was fully guaranteed if I am not mistaken, so cutting him creates a dead cap hit of $6.6m. He is not being cut at least not in 2015.

UHHHHH, I call BS on this. I am the guy who wrote the article on PhinPhanatic.com and I DID NOT say he would be released. Or even suggested it.

I even said in the article that he would count 5 million plus against the cap this year. The only savings they get is about 2 or 3 mill if he is a post june 1st cut...but the dead money is almost equal to that as well. If it's a pre-J1 cut it's almost 6 million in dead money with no cap savings. Whoever wrote that news about him being gone if they can't trade him just made that crap up.

Not according to Sun Sentinel:

Jordan, whom the Dolphins traded up to select third overall in last April's draft, signed a four-year deal that features a team option for year five. He was the last of Miami's nine draft picked who hadn't signed his contract. The deal was being held up by offset language in the contract, which sources say Jordan and his camp eventually agreed to.

According to over the cap Jordan contract is fully guaranteed. Pretty sure we have him for at least another year.

Dude's contract is bullet proof, he made out like a bandit. They paid him so much upfront, he haas nothing to ply for. absolutely not motivation..that is the problem right there plus bad coaching.

If he is traded\ release prior to June 1st, he saves Miami $5,610,620

After June 1/Before Camp ($1,060,209)

After 5th day Camp ($1,060,209)

Good! Two years is giving up way too early if you ask me. I'm just surprised that he said he wants to be a DE. I thought it was the other way around. That would explain why they have been putting him there instead of at OLB.

Yeah you're right IMO Brian. Nobody, not even the Dolphins, is going to release a 3rd overall pick after 2 years, especially when we have no shortage of mediocre players we can cut to go way under the cap.
