McDonald: ‘I’m locked in.’

Good read DK. Thanks for posting.

The article makes an excellent point about the versatility of our safeties. Almost like a "positionless" basketball team.

I've always liked McDonald since his USC days. Was a big fan of his dad Tim. Receivers better have their head on a swivel when TJ, Minkah and Jones are on the field.

I dont think he's looked that good out there this preseason. He hasn't been awful or anything but nothing special. The part about him and Jones both being able to play deep is somewhat laughable. Ok, ok it's really not that funny but both of those guys are SS types who excel at being in the box and playing downhill, neither are centerfielding deep cover guys. We have a guy who excels at that, but it looks as though hes going to be reduced to a slot cb.

Minkah will be playing FS sometimes too.

He is the enforcer we needed to let Jones play the ball more than not. This the most safety depth I have ever seen us have.

While i don't know about being a monster (really, havent watched him enough) he's obviously a capable starter, nice to see moves like this, made with patience, paying off. Its ok to miss on some guys if we are actually getting some hits, which finally seems to be the case last few years.

He's very good at playing the run and playing in the box. Not as good when playing the pass. We'll see how it goes. I was hoping for Minkah back there but he's playing the slot. Either our coaching staff is genius or dumb. Time will tell.

Hopefully he lives up to the hype this year, our CB position is a mess and Minkah is going to be playing in the slot a lot because of it.

I will never forget one of his first games with miami where cam newton deeked him out badly going for the big hit for a huge gain and was doing what newton does, dancing and smiling at McDonald. A play or two later he fumbles and McDonald has the ball smiling right back at him. Too bad after that we got destroyed by the panthers..
