Miami Dolphins should resist urge to turn to Ryan Tannehill too soon

First off, Tannehill is NOT A Dalton or C Newton. Not enough close. Second, are you really comparing what a college QB in the Big 10 did compared to a QB in the NFL? If so, then I guess Tannehill is also better then Aaron Rodgers since Rodger's rating was only 122.

He's not even close to Andy Dalton? Why the **** did we draft him 8th overall?

He's not going to be given the starters job just because he was drafted 8th, at least not this year. I admit to having a wee bit of optimism that he will impress enough to start but it’s pointless until we’ve seen him in full pads, playing at full speed.

Matt Moore sucks. If Tannehill doesn't beat him out I'd be disappointed in Tannehill. Garrad on the other hand is an actual NFL qb.
Matt Moore may not be a long term answer but ... sucks???? What does that make all the many QBs that didn't do as well as he did? Are you saying about half the NFL QBs suck?

If Tannehill starts early in the season, it SHOULD be solely because he is the better QB during camp/preseason, OR the selected starting QB has big issues coming out of the gate. Either situation dictates letting Tannehill play. If Tanny's psyche and development is truly going to be dismembered by him playing poorly his rookie season, then he isn't that strong of a prospect anyway. Manning turned out just fine, and it looks like Newton and Dalton will too....

Not every player is Manning. Not every player is Dalton or Newton for that matter. Sanchez was handed the starting job before he was ready and with no competition and he turned out crappy. You want another Sanchez? It's a possibility if you throw him to the wolves.

(God I hope he's better than Snatchez)

Ireland had no choice. Drafting Tannehill gave him at lease two more years. 95% of all the mock drafts had us drafting Tannehill, A

Andy Dalton played for 4 years at TCU, that is 50 games. 2 and a 1/2 times more then Tannehill did in college. (and for those impressed by college ratings, his was much higher then Tannehill's)

Tannehill can be as good or better as a NFL QB then Dalton can, but he is not near as seasoned as a starting QB.

The jury is still out on Dalton as well as the other 2011 crop of QBs. Kids that look pretty good as rookies frequently don't ever get much better (Trent Edwards and Mark Sanchez come to mind here).

The poster who talked about the rest of the team wanting to win games is also very true. These guys are competitors who want to win. They are not going to go all out for a crappy rookie QB when they know the guy holding the clipboard is better, so the starting QB needs to be able to perform or he will lose the team.
