The Miami Dolphins swapped training camp fullbacks, signing undrafted rookie Matt Quillen and releasing Chris Brown, a second-year player who ended the 2008 season on the Dolphins' practice squad.
Coach Tony Sparano insinuated the staff wasn't pleased with the play of Brown, a converted tight end, and are exploring their options.
"[Quillen] is a guy that we've had on our radar screen for a while," Sparano said. "We worked him out once before and saw some good things, maybe needed a little more time."
Quillen practiced with the team on Thursday morning. During his career at New Mexico, he scored one touchdown and rushed for 59 yards as a senior. He contributed 131 total rushing yards on 27 attempts in his three years with the Lobos. He also caught 17 passes for 105 yards in his career.
