Miami Dolphins Talking Points: Keeping 3 QBs will take away someone else’s roster spo

I think that if you FINALLY commit to developing at the most important position then you COMMIT TO THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION... This means that the job does not end with the 8th selection in the draft but it BEGINS there... Tanni needs all the seasoning he can get... Period.

why is anyone thinking we will keep 6 wrs??? it's 5 imo also i'm just not so sure that you cut weight with clyde gates already...i guess we'll see how he looks in pads...

Can we pretend that Tannehill got injured, and place him on IR/PUP?

ha ha have him sport one of those full halo dog collars and a jump suit on the sidelines all season long...i seriously doubt it...you guys aren't gonna want him in civis anyways once you get a good look at garrard and matt moore...well some of us won't at least

Barkely is also unproven, Tannehill is going to surprise a lot of polsters and naysayer.

Of course we'll have 3 QBs on the roster.
Garrard is here to install the WCO. That's it.
Moore will take over if he picks up the WCO quickly.
If not, they may play Garrard all season and hand straight to Tanny.
We'll cut Devlin.

Next offseason, if Moore hadn't unseated Garrard during the season, he's gone for sure. No need for a non-WCO QB on the squad, no matter what other talents he has. In that scenario, we may well draft another QB or sign a FA like Grossman.

On one hand, we could try to take a QB in round 1, but the rookie pay scale could mean that every half decent QB in the draft goes in the top half of the first round., so it's pot luck who we would get.

To lose a roster spot for a rookie in order to keep two aging QBs and a rookie QB we drafted #8 is assanine. If you select a QB with a top ten pick you don't keep 3 QBs on your team. I have full confidence in Philbin that he understands this as well and utilizes the spot to keep and develope a young guy and says bye to either Moore or Garrad.

If Moore picks up the WCO to the extent that he's good enough to start game 1, then Garrards job is done and he gets cut.

I just dont believe Moore will click that quickly, but he'll be kept on if he shows some promise of picking the system up, as Garrard has little left in the tank.

It'll just be for a season, but we will keep 3 QBs, IMO. Unless Moore rocks training camp and preseason.

We have a lot of players at the bottom of the roster that could be cut before we let go of one of our QB's this season. Garrard is fragile(back) and Tannehill needs mentoring, it is better to have both guys giving him insight. Next season Garrard will likely not be back(there is only a little bit of tread left on those tires), so we will have Ryan T and Moore. What would be interesting is if we tank this year and end up picking Barkley. That is the topic of a different thread though.

My guess would be that the FO would have drafted Tannehill over Barkley if both were in the draft this year. And I still think that Weeden will end up with a better pro career than both of them.

I'm anxious to see if any of them actually look compelling in any way.
I think you make a key point here. Why not keep 3 QBs if there isn't a COMPELLING reason to use the spot. Having insurance at QB could be worth more than a marginal player at WR, etc.

The compelling reason would be to not risk being put in a position where your raw high 1st rd pick QB is forced into action, risking injury or mind effing from getting shell shocked. Dude isn't ready and he needs time. I seriously doubt that we keep only 2 QBs, but as with most things in life you never know.
