Miami Dolphins talking points: O-line depth much improved

After right guard Donald Thomas went down in the first game last season with a broken foot, the Dolphins offensive line struggled, and after Justin Smiley was lost to a leg and ankle injuries on Nov. 30, it became almost impossible to run between the tackles.

That line seems to be much better off this year. Jake Grove should be an upgrade over Samson Satele at center, Smiley and Jake Long make an excellent tandem on the left side and Vernon Carey is solid at right tackle. Shawn Murphy and Joe Berger have been getting most of the snaps at right guard so far, but Donald Thomas is slowly but surely getting into the mix.

I am worried the most about the center position. If Grove goes down we are in big trouble. There is a huge drop off in talent from Grove to Alleman & Berger.

We won't be that bad off. Berger is still quite an upgrade over Samson. Samson was absolutely terrible, but I agree losing Grove would hurt our chances this year. We can't afford ANY season ending injuries to Thomas, Grove or Mr "injury prone" Smiley.

How is berger an upgrade over Samson? Back up your response with facts and i might consider this a reasonable opinion.

The o-line depth better be improved because Grove,Smiley,and Thomas have all
proved to be injury prone in the past...lets hope that changes this season.

Berger is the biggest question on the line since he has rarely been active as a pro. Not usually a sign that a team is enamoured with ya.

There is no way to back up that opinion since noone has seen Berger play in an actual game. Berger is a bottom rung roster dweller so far in his career so I dont see any basis for his conclusion.
