Miami Dolphins: What was accomplished during free agency?

so what has waterboy ireland been doing all thoes other years ,just reciving a pay check?

funny how people give him a pass but he left dallas so he could have an actual gm role and people want to believe he didnt do anything for three years if thast true why would anyone have faith he should run out team now

I didn't give him credit. I just said We have sucked at drafting for over 20 years. But at least we have hit on all our first rounders in the last 4. As in we I mean the organization, otherwise I would have singled out Ireland.

What Quarterback did we pass up on last year ? The one that went in the 3rd Round. So if we reach for a QB that every team passed on at least twice, would that have been considered a reach.

How can you point that out when for whatever reason it didn't happen. As a matter of fact it makes the F.O. seems even more content because they didn't gave into Denvers and Orton agent demands.

None of our second round picks have develop into bonafide superstars. They all suck Koa Misi Sucks, Sean Smith Sucks, Phillip Merling Sucks and Daniel Thomas Sucks. All four are thrash and don't belong on any nfl roster. Because if we didn't draft them where they were drafted no other team would have drafted them

Know what we have also done? Not secured the quarterback position, busted on almost every second round pick, signed horrible players to big contracts, failed to secure the safety position, failed to secure a pass rusher opposite Wake, failed to secure our offensive line, failed to secure a long term wideout solution, and failed to consistently win. Man, thats alot of failure that we have had. Dont you think we should get rid of the people doing that? I would.

"For whatever reason"? Um, it was shut down because Ross didnt want to pay Orton 27 million over 3 years. Jeff Ireland did. Our front office DID give in to their demands, and even our clueless owner saw how absolutely insane it was.

Ross is apparently so committed to doing this that the source confirmed it was the owner himself who told Jeff Ireland to shut down the attempt to add Kyle Orton in the summer when the general manager was still trying to trade for the Denver quarterback.

Owner Stephen Ross didn’t want to pay Orton $9 million to potentially be a backup this season, or $27 million in a new three-year contract extension.

And. I. LOVE. It. Jeff Ireland misses on 8 second round picks and whats your excuse? Ugh, other teams would have drafted those players! But guess what: they didnt. Ireland did, they failed, and we lost alot of games in part because we didnt draft talented players. But wait, that would have happened to someone else!!!!

Oh, and as for quarterback, you can order the jersey here. Sorry, they appear to be out of the Pro-bowl ones:

it's not a pass, it's called "working with someone else over you, so you don't make the final decision." as to why he should run a team now, it's called "experience." do i think ireland is the best gm in the league? not by a long shot. do i think he is fairly new at it and learning? yes. do i think he had a pretty solid overall first year in charge? yes. am i optimistic about the future with him in charge? yes. sorry folks! just the way i feel.

You have a right to feel any way you do, I never feel like you or anybody else is stupid for that but I do think people either have to beleive Ireland got free money or he was no board witrh those decisions and maybe made them

tuna was tony sprono boss too ,but he wasn't out there coaching the team ,so what make u think he would'nt let ireland do his job too.

because it's a known fact that parcells wasn't the head coach or any type of on-the-field gameday coach, but as Vice President Of Football Operations he had final say over all personnel decisions, including the draft, trades and free agency. just because he "let" the head coach actually coach the team on sundays doesn't mean every single player transaction didn't ultimately come from him.

there's a reason tuna hired ireland to be his gm ,and that reason was to bring talent to the team . the same way fisher hired snead to be his gm ,in st louis, fisher is snead boss ,but snead is responable for bring in talent.same way parcels and irleand worked together ,tuna the big boss, ireland the talent man,and sprono coach the team.

Hey they want to build through the draft? fine, no problem...People saying its Philbins philosophy is fine but Ireland is making the decisions.

I've seen this same pattern of 1/2azz players being brought in to fill other 1/2azz players (year after year), Fine.

But in my mind feel though still building through the draft should not waste FA as much as we do. We can afford (like 90% of the rest of the NFL) to at least pick up one quality non depth but actual annual starter that can be counted on... such as a Winston/other ligit OL starter or say Anderson a dependable pass rusher of need.
Fill one needed position and free up a spot for the Draft maybe a DE or OL or a spot that is weak in the draft......
common sense folks
Not expecting to go hog wild in FA but christ, this year after year of scrubs is ridiculously unsuccessful and predictable, and those few solid players we actually picked up and paid for have filled their respected positions, Dansby, Barnnett, traded B. Marshall..............with consistency and no longer on the upgrade chart.
Instead of discount players unable to hold the position and putting us in having to replace then again the next year which we've been doing with the OL, DB, S for Y-E-A-R-S !!!!!!

Under Ireland we get the basics or marginal out of FA. Not much of any in the way of impact players (Dansby being the closest thing to the exception). As mentioned previously building through the draft has been a proven formula in the past for many a successful team. But wasting opportunities that can be had in FA is foolish. Not just one but one or two FA every year that can hold a seat for at least 3 years barring injury. Dependable at least if not someone who can win a game with a big play or carry one unit or the other by playing exceptional in big games. We don't get that enough. We need it!

This team did find two starting corners in this 2009 draft, and finding 4 starters in one draft is still pretty good. They also found a starting Safety in this class despite whiffing on the second round pick overall this was a pretty successful draft.

Finding 4 starters in any one draft is still a major accomplishment no matter how bad the second round pick was wasted.

That all depends on how bad the previous starters were.......We have a pattern or replacing old starters with new starters and new starters with newer starters.....one of my big beefs about our FO ...
