DAVIE — There have been times when Leonte Carroo is watching special teams film from last season and he wants to duck underneath a table.

“You could just see how bloated my stomach looked and how big I look,” Carroo recalled Sunday. “Now, I look in the mirror and I look good and I feel good. Look better, play good.”

Carroo played at about 221 pounds last season. He’s currently at 212 with a target of 208.

Make no mistake, the Carroo who took the field as a rookie looked nothing like the Carroo who stood out in the fourth Miami Dolphins training camp practice.

"I'm in the best shape of my life" - every player entering training camp ever.

It wasn't his conditioning that kept him from learning & understanding the playbook, either.

Doesn't separate much so that burst on the release into his stem is big for him.

Was lacking last year

According to Gase part of the problem there was Carroo being asked to learn all three receiver spots last season as opposed to just one which is normal for rookies. I don't know how true that is, but Gase said they put more on Carroo's plate than typical rookie receivers are asked to learn. I think Carroo will get better, but still wouldn't want to rely on him much. The Packers say Jeff Janis might be on the bubble, if true I would be interested in adding him later in camp. A vet, still young, cheap, decent size and speed. I would be ok if Miami only kept 5 receivers if they were Stills, Landry, Parker, Janis and Carroo.

As much as I'd like to see Carroo prove his worth this year, in an ideal world Stills, Landry and Parker are all healthy and ballin', relegating him to the bench for most snaps. Chances are he'll be pushed into service at some point though....i get the feeling he is going to end up being a guy the team is glad they stashed away come 2018

Yea for sure. We gave up what we gave up for him, time to move on and embrace this extremely talented WR group that we have in front of us.

Still would have rather used that pick and no trade on somebody else. Draft a Carroo type in 2018. I know it's a dead horse, but all we've heard is how could have been Stills replacement if not re-signed or Parker's fill in when injured or if he doesn't live up to potential, now he''s Landry's possible replacement. Doubtful for all, I never saw him anything more than R. Matthews replacement. Pads are on now let's see if he can rise above the the pack vying for spots after the big three.

Well were an injury away from someone else needing to step in and up-.. so lets see how things go from here.

Fair enough, if he does end up being another Matthews, then yeah that is alot to go through to get there. When he finally gets significant playing time i'll judge for sure- he'll either be a JAG not worth the trade and 2 years development, or good enough to live up to it - at this point i'm not sure how good that needs to be. But if he does make me forget about a potential loss of one of our top 3 WR's, that will probably be enough in my book to justify giving away a 4th and 6th round pick.

Good day yesterday, but don't recall hearing about him catching a single pass today
