instead of pulling something out of your ***, like saying a fumble is equivalent to an incompletion on 4th down, why dont you try to stick with what happen. If Henne fumbled, fans would be all over him wanting him benched, wanting Moore, wanting Orton, wanting Tebow, etc. it would go down as us failing to even attempt to make a play on a crucial 4th down. instead, we made an attempt at making a play. It was a bad throw, and probably a bad play call, but not as bad as a fumble. just because it is a turn over of possession does not mean they will have an equivalent impact. losing the ball on a fumble, INT hurts player's morale, turnovers on TOP do less damage as they had an attempt to make a play.

Next you will say that throwing a INT on a 40 yard bomb is the same as punting the ball.

in its simplest form, yes. if Henne fumbles the snap then we lose the ball before we get a chance to make a play...if he is strip sacked then the D has a greater chance to return it for 6 or atleast start with better field position than they would on a turnover on downs. other things come out of it also, such as people complaining about Henne turning it over by fumbling, thoughts creeping into Henne's head such as being benched if he turns it over again, better not take anymore shots. Fan's reactions...bench henne! trade for orton! sign Garrard! TE-BOW! etc. Sparano wondering if he made the right choice by investing so much into Chad this season. Media reaction. PLAYER reaction. many many factors play major roles in a teams success and i would rather see a TURNOVER on downs anyday over a FUMBLE or INT.

No similarities? If Henne fumbles, they get the ball at the 2. If Henne throws it 4 feet over Hartlines head they get the ball at the 2.

I guess I should cut Henne some slack because judging from the responses the thought of giving your receiver at least a fighting chance at making a play at the ball on 4th down seems to be difficult for some to grasp.

the cowboys had a chance to either score a TD, or kick a FG. on 3rd down, Romo tried to make something out of nothing on a broken play instead of playing perhaps more smart. The result of the play was his fumble and Turnover. the Cowboys didnt get either of them, ultimately losing the game by (you guessed it) 3 points.you said why not kick on 3rd? they didnt kick on 3rd because a TD put them in a better position to win than a FG, but that is obvious.

Henne, on 4th had to either get it in the endzone or turn it over. we knew one or the othther was going to happen. comeback falls short. we live to fight another day
