Miami Herald gives Dolphins a C for the draft calls it "3 yards and a cloud of punts"

It lost all credibility when they gave the Pats an A and the Fins a C.

I'd trade our draft for their draft in a heartbeat. 2RBs as promising as the one we got, a QB even though they have Brady, an O-Lineman who can actually play the position he was drafted for, and they somehow managed to flip their 3rd and 4th rounders for TWO of Oakland's 2nd rounders next year.

Step away from the KoolAid

They got real value arguable a top 10 talent in the third round
most people on this board though mallet was better than ponder or locker
and look where they went.

Maybe they felt he could be a jackass in the lockerroom and hurt hennes confidence..
Guy threw over 30 touchdowns and close to 65% completion rate he does come of as stubborn
and the drug issues pushed him down though on pure talent alone seems he is a steal if he can keep his nose clean...

This draft couldn't have worked out any better for Mallett. Mark my words, he's a future Pro-Bowler just based on the fact that he was drafted by Belicheat and will be learning from Brady.

I don't see anything wrong with giving the Patriots an "A" in this Draft. I give them more like a "B" but an "A" certainly isn't a stretch.

I am darn tired of being in the need position these past few years which is what makes you trade up or stay put to grab the best player available that can fill your need. I want to us to be in the want position so we can start trading back like the Pats. That way when a guy we want is around we can be in a better to trade back and garnish more picks if we are offered a trade back option. This might end up with us picking another want player on our board that was available at another position but still a good player.
Really when you can afford to do that you know you have arrived as a real NFL team.

hows darius butler workin out? The fat *** DT from BC? where he at? they claimed that draft was an absolute A.

Nate Solder? I hope that dude starts...cam wake movin to the left side all day long

I love this draft i give it a B. Solidified the line.. a safe pick with that 1st pick, one that upgrades the offense as a whole.

follow that up with injection of 3 explosive new weapons on offense. Guys to compliment the safe vanilla players we have, as in we got playmakers and gamechangers.

a backup NT as some insurance behind soliai. someone thats been touted pretty well.

and a mean special teamer with the 7th round pick.

get ready for henne to have a breakout year. if not oh well, we have 1 hole to fill next year.

Ia safe pick with that 1st pick, .
Higlighted the keyword there, Safe , that word will forever be embedded into our minds when we think of this Regime.

Safe Pick + Safe Team Building Strategy + Safe Offensive philosophy = Safe 8-8 ish Record.

This Draft would look a lot better in my eyes if the Dolphins somehow pull Carson Palmer and DeAngelo Williams out of their @ss. In that way, I guess I'd be more inclined toward an INC than a C-, because if they grab Palmer and DeAngelo then the whole thing ends up looking very cohesive.

If they grabbed Palmer and Williams, I'd be more inclined to give the draft an "A-" or "B+".

They got the best lineman in the draft - granted interior O-line isn't as valuable as LT or RT. Pouncey, though, is still the best lineman at his position (at least to me).

They got a good RB who would be a great compliment to D. Williams.

They got the guy we needed at WR.

They got the H-back who can stretch the middle.

. . .

The draft is missing QB and a change-of-pace RB. Big knocks as far as I'm concerned. Add those to the equation, though, and I think the draft is easily the best in our division.

In a way, this draft could end up being seen in hindsight as a pitch to Palmer to come play here. A very risky strategy, if true. With "risky" probably being the most positive way to put it.

True enough. I think there's a very real chance that their approach is:

If we can land Palmer, sweet.
If not, we like the 2012 QB class better.

And I get the strong - though it hurts my soul to say it - sense that Ireland (at least) has been given confirmation by Ross that he has time to unveil his plan. In other words, he has a couple more years.

Yeah I think so too. "Risky" is about the most reserved word I could use for it...UNLESS Ireland was somehow able to break the rules and come to an understanding with Mike Brown about Carson Palmer.

But if it happens, hell...what an off season, right? You get some Center help with a big, strong guy with football in his veins, that has rare mobility for the position. You get a big bruising running back (or a guy that you hope will develop into a big bruising running back) that you know can catch passes and has versatility in his game. You get the fastest WR in the Draft, a guy that shows great hands and ability to track the ball in the air, very impressively quick learning curve coming over from a basketball background. Both DeAngelo Williams and Daniel Thomas are cutback runners and if that's the style of ground game Daboll plans to install, with Pouncey's mobility to help that happen, that all looks very cohesive. With DeAngelo you bring the big play ability that I think Daniel Thomas lacks, and you take the pressure off the rookie so that he can take a little time to develop into an Arian Foster. Then you get Carson Palmer to help you put it all together, and Carson is a guy that thrives on teams that are committed to and effective at running the football. Helps that he's throwing to Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, Brian Hartline and Edmond Gates.

What I said on Twitter is...I haven't totally given up on this regime or this season. But we're in the 4th quarter, down 7 points, with 10 seconds left in the game. We need a hail mary. Highly unlikely, but not impossible. But that hail mary will only get us to overtime, where the real fun begins. To me Carson Palmer and DeAngelo Williams are the hail mary (mostly Palmer). That will give us the opportunity to see if Tony Sparano is or is not right for this team, can he get the players to buy in and work hard enough, effectively enough to take a championship caliber roster and make it play championship caliber football. BTW, championship caliber roster doesn't mean best roster in football, just means among the top 8 or so.

Well absolutely, the key being get a quarterback that can make it happen. I just think it was wrong to gamble on getting Palmer and passing on Mallett altogether. I think both should have happened.

Daniel Thomas may end up being a serviceable RB, but I think we could have gone another direction(such as bringing back Ronnie or some other free agent/later draft pick) and gotten the first piece of fixing this awful QB situation we have had here forever.

But we didn't, so now as you correctly state, it comes down to getting Palmer primarily that it all hinges on.

Preaching to the choir. It won't have been the perfect off season, but I do believe it will have been a good one. Just the chances of it happening still seem slim.

Seems much more likely we go ahead and trade a 3rd for Kyle Orton and then maybe sign Darren Sproles.
