ok i read the Q and A article and harvey said that miami is very high on Chip Vaughn DB from Wake.

anyone have much info on him past what I read? i nevre saw him play. Thanks.
 
i know his more of a SS then a FS and doesnt have very good ball skills so why are they so interested in him?
 
I saw him in the game Wake played Florida State and came away very impressed. He's very well built (reminds me of a bigger Yeremiah Bell, but without the massive arms) and I think he had 1 or 2 INTs in the game. Very sloppy game overall, as I think it was 12-9, all field goals.

He looked pretty fluid covering his ground; I'm not sure that he's any faster than Yeremiah, but he might be a little better at playing the ball. Didn't really notice anything good or bad as far as run support/tackling.

Seems like a solid 3rd or 4th round pick, might sneak a little higher up with a good Senior Bowl and/or Combine.

They keep mentioning he "claims to be fast and the combine will show it"

I wonder what the verdict is on that area.
 
He certainly looks the part, and runs the part. He's not a sudden player. He's not a head hunter. He's a mid-round safety that can start on Sundays.
 
delmas is my number 1 player so far in this draft that we can obtain at 25 but im not sure if we will go for a S in round 1 : /

i love the kid.

exactly and we all know what a good S in the nfl can do. look at Rolle, Troy P, Reed, Griffin, Sharper, Sanders, etc.

I think they want to find the Safety tandem of the future in Delmas and Vaughn. Delmas the FS and Vaughn the SS.

Yeremiah Bell is 31 yrs old. So they need to find someone to groom behind him. Culver doesn't seem to look like the long term solution there, at least not as the future starter.

Then, they are high on them because of where they can land them in the draft. They are not going to be high on Matt Stafford or Aaron Curry or Michael Crabtree because they are not going to be able to draft any of them.

They are high on players that are going to be around when they pick.

Delmas should be our FS pick at #25, Vaughn could be our SS pick to groom behind Bell at pick #57 or #89.

Then of course, these could be just plan A and plan B.

In other words, say a player that is higher than a top #25 pick drops to them like say BJ Raji....then they of course select Raji there and will probably lose out on Delmas by the #44 pick, so maybe take Vaughn at #44 or #57 at that point....

Could be a bunch of things...
 
Actually MrEd I read an article where Ireland stated he studies the entire draft b/c you never know who is going to slide. Honestly I think you have to be real careful of the news coming out of Mobile right now. If they are letting news leak about who they like, it's probably b/c they really like someone else. The draft is a poker game. You never show your hand before it's time to lay your cards on the table.

true maybe thats hwy they claim vaughn as opposed to delmas.

last year htey said they love players who were captains and we all know delmas if u havent read it yet on the article i posted and from konwing him was the captain for 2 yrs running and takes straight up leadership and demand ala Lewis of Balt. hes tough, physical, lays the wood, and plays strong with great instincts. he has all of the Jake long qualities in him but for the FS spot and rem. FS spot needs that leader and 2nd coach so to say for the D. he has great ball skills as well.
