Miami is still #1 in Red Zone efficiency on offense

Agreed. Tannehill has mobility, is much smarter, & has a better demeanor when things get tough.
Perhaps, but if that never translates to a significant difference over the long haul between he and Henne with regard to things that are strongly correlated with winning, the distinction won't result in anything of importance. I think we'll know more by the end of the season, however.

god dang qb what the hell ryan??? oh wait...a stat that says the qbs taking advantage of the red zone opportunities we get with tds...

burn it

And conversely our success in the red zone clearly has nothing to do with Sherman. Its only Sherman when things go wrong. When things go well its all because of Tannehill baby!!!!

Sparano would be pissed!

Well, and that's just the point I made above. Red zone efficiency is relatively weakly correlated with winning.

How's this for a stat - the team with the higher score at the end of the game wins 100% of the time. Ziiiiing!

i never said that...sherman has put together some nice formations and calls in the red to aid him for sure...especially cnsidering there is no go to red zone guy on this roster

I have no idea how to go about getting this stat, but I've noticed something this year....

We don't have many sustained drives; multiple first downs. Yet, we are always in close games and it seems sometimes the other team has the ball for a long time. Which brings me to my question:

How efficient are we at scoring when we produce multiple first downs during a possession?

It seems to me, if we have 21 points, we typically only had 3 or 4 sustained drives. The rest of the time it's 3 and out. It's kinda odd.

Philbin and Sherman don't like the running game, even when it's working. And, this team is terrible at converting 3rd and short by running, so very few drive are sustained and the time of possession is never in our favor.

We are horrible at keeping the football. We currently rank 29th in offensive time of possession (27:27), Only Jacksonville, Minnesota and Philly are worse.
If we get a couple 1st downs we usually score. But the issue has been 3 and outs. I'll see if I can get that count.

No commitment to the run game, and a turnover margin in the red.

Worse than that, our defence is 31st in the league for Time of possession per drive by opponent, 30th in the league for plays per drive by opponent and 23rd for yards per drive by opponent.

Which basically underlines what Hooshoops, myself and several others have been saying: we're getting killed by the short plays - our LBs and safeties are stinking the place up.

PS we're 26th in the league for 3&Outs per drive.

Football Outsiders has us 26th in the league against passes to a RB and 32nd in the league against passes to a TE.

Step forward and take a bow, LBs and Safeties.

the screen game is for your lbs to sniff out...it's obvious as hell on tape that with ellerbe out no one can do anything but their assignment during a play...if the call with the backers is to blitz they do it if they are to cover the back they do it but if they smell screen no one ever says screw that inside blitz i'm gonna hang back and flow to the play side and make a play...no one

ever...teams will keep killing us with em cause these lbs got no clue...no recognition of anything...no one ever does anything that their assignment did not dictate...

i would call 6 plus screens a game against us also...we play right into em
