I have said all along that this team need a veteran running back, because this team (even though I like to see ronnie run the rock) was ricky Williams team.

Ricky had just as many yards in less game action than ronnie.
This team will only go as far the O-line and running backs take them.
Antwan Smith, Ron Dayne or tatum Bell would be great additions to this offense.

I guess the Morris suspension can be a blessing in diguise by forcing Saban and Co. to go out and seek a veteran runner like those you listed above.

But man, I cannot wait until Ronnie puts to doubt all these fears people keep bringing up about not having a good enough back. Yeah, people are not saying it directly, but it's their between the lines. Some people just cannot let go of Ricky Williams like he's some security blanket. Too bad he is completely undependable at the moment.

But back to the issue at hand, I was a believer in Morris in the backup role, but definitely agree it wouldn't hurt to bring in a veteran. Minor as the second for four games certainly does not seem like the best of situations.

EDIT: By the way, both Ronnie and Ricky averaged 4.4yds per carry last year according to ESPN. Ronnie maintained the average despite 39 more carries than Ricky.

BUT Ronnie also had twice as many receptions for 232yds while Ricky only pulled in 17 catches for 93yds.

So the whole "Ricky had just as many yards in less game action than Ronnie" recollection is not correct. 1,139 total yards from Ronnie in 15 games to 836 total yards from Ricky in 12 games seems about equal to me.

Ronnie was just as good stats wise if not better (more diverse as a threat), and he was a rookie.

Is Tatum Bell available? A Ronnie Brown & Tatum Bell tandem would be awesome. Like Csonka and Mercury Morris.

I couldn't disagree more about this being Ricky's team. Don't get me wrong, I like Ricky, I just can't believe how much respect he gets on this site. If he were playing this year I would have expected him to gain somewhere between 500 to 800 yards on the ground. Not bad numbers, but not even close to being elite numbers either. BTW, I grew up in Deltona, right across Lake Monroe from you.

I haven't heard anything about Bell being on the bubble. Dayne yes, but not Bell. Link?

I love how everyone wants a link for everything. Simply put, it's speculation. Cedric Cobbs and Mike Bell have played very well this pre-season. This possibly makes Tatum Bell expendable to upgrade at other positions of need. Say maybe WR, which we are backloaded at.

don't try to make yourself sound all prophetic. the whole time you were saying they needed to look for a veteran running back, they weren't looking for one. the only reason they may be looking for one now is because morris is being suspended.

Smith, the ex patriot just got released by the texans. That would be a pretty good 1 year fit.

:yeahthat:

but im mad morris got suspended.i was looking forward to him getting some carries.i like him alot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Saban have been notified in Oct. that Morris was suspended? The appeal was just recently denied, but most appeals are, so that couldn't have been a surprise. If so, then he would have added another rb already if he thought somebody was an upgrade. So nothing has changed. If he sees a long-term upgrade out there, he'll sign him. If not, he'll sign a stop gap guy who'll be cut after 4 weeks.

That is because of the of the shock of him being suspended over such a stupid ruling. He was probrably hoping and fighting the NFL idiots that suspended him over sudafed (SP?)
