For all intents and purposes, this season is over. At 5-5 Miami is in the middle of the pack, but as fans we all realize this is a bad team drained by injuries and limited with a backup quarterback.

The big issue that emerged this season is the putrid run defense. While the Dolphins defense was getting smaller and faster, the New England Patriots were doing something un-Patriot like. They drafted a running back and offensive lineman in the first round. No question, Bill Bellichick saw what we did as fans. We always think Miami is adjusting to New England, but it works both ways.

Moving ahead, Miami needs to replace these 250-pound defensive ends who can't stop the run. That's the biggest area where the team needs to get physical. Sure, a few of those guys can rush the passer but that doesn't matter much if the opponent is gashing the run defense for 160 yards.

The interior of the offensive line also needs help badly. It's amazing how long this line has been in the rebuilding mode.

Do we have the right coaches in place? Do we need a quarterback? Those are a few other questions. Personally, I'd give Gase one more season and perhaps even ride with Tannehill in 2019. Getting that qb of the future is a big issue, but perhaps not the offseason to find one.

Could not agree more.

Spend serious resources on front 7 and interior o line.

Roll with Tannehill (maybe we can work something to make his cap hit less) and the go get your QB in 2020

Not saying I disagree, but 'more physical' doesn't help hitting the wrong hole, shoulder tackles, and miscommunications. And the edges aren't gashed as much as between the tackles. OL? Yeah, CLEARLY need to be physical, but quick and agile.

I’m am madly rooting for Michigan to win the championship in hopes that gets Harbaugh to leave. That way he feels that he’s paid his due to them.

I remember when he was with the 49ers they were physical has he’ll. There was some cray stat that teams who played the Niners had the most players in their injury report the next week after playing any team.

Harbaugh isnt leaving Michigan for a long time. He just built a house there for both him and his parents. He loves Ann Abor and he always has said his next step after Michigan is retirement. Now John Harbaugh on the other hand...

Cut RT.
Cut cut cut cut cut.
Give this team a chance to move forward for sh*ts sake

These people are Tannehill fans first and foremost. Restructuring his contract after its already been restructured is...folly, if not down right criminal at this point. But people will make their case, because they can't justify the 27+ million he is due next year.

Which is a unequivocal indictment of Tannehill himself. But hey he will be 31 next year and Gase is still looking for his ceiling or something.

lol! I agree man. I love Tannehill as a person, and I believe in him before each game he's ever played for us. I've seen this guy make some absolutely incredible throws. I've also seen him have some pathetic and absolutely dumbfounding games against teams that aren't even that good. He's dealt with some of the worst lineman you could think of and he's also played with the highest paid o line in the league. At the end of the day he's never finished better than 8-8. I have no faith he would have won those games Matt Moore won to get us in the playoffs 2 years ago. He's had his chance to take us into the playoffs against those same teams and he failed.

Move on.

Move on.

My biggest knock on Tannehill remains an apparent inability to read defenses and coverage. Son't see many audibles and he appears to sty with a slow developing play when the other team shows they're sending 14 pass rushers. Second biggest complaint (and this surprises me), is he seems to avoid running even when all 11 defenders are on the sidelines with the cheerleaders. (Exaggeration, for those who couldn't tell)

I'm just gonna throw this out there, but while you're offering broadly painted generalizations about anyone with an opinion that differs from yours, you should consider yourself fortunate that nobody around here can be bothered to throw around half-assed generalizations about you.

Gase doesn’t know how to make a team physical. He is a powderpuff coach. He would be better off coaching flag foorball.

Fire Gase
Fire the FO
Cut Tammy

The idea of focusing on the interior offensive line is interesting....if not for the fact that we’re going to need a right tackle, too. Ju’wuan James has to be done here. He is unreliable and will not be worth the money it will take to re-sign him. So, what’s the higher priority, replacing James or replacing Kilgore, Davis, and/or Sitton?

Replace James? Based on what?

I said before that our DEs and LBs are too damn small. You have Wake and Branch who are only 260 at DE, Harris is only 250 and Quinn is 257. Far too small to hold up consistently and set the edge vs. the run. At LB, Alonso is 233 max and Jerome Baker is 225. Those 2 get steamrolled too often vs. the run.
