First remove you thoughts of Tannehill from the discussion. Anyone thinking we in any way shape or form try to replace him is delusional. Tannehill will be here at least another year regardless of how our coaching staff shakes out.
OK. Now my thoughts on the final three games are Philbin (and Lazor) have to find a way to at "least" attempt to progress the offense. What we tried Sunday just doesn't work, and it's not the first time it hasn't worked. We have tons of film from the past two years to study to confirm this. If Philbin and Lazor can not give the offense another look (win or lose I might add) I'm (back on) the fire Philbin Band Wagon. I thought the Dolphins adjusted after the London game and that was impressive but the offensive scheme has regressed to what failed in the first place. I'm not referring to the deep ball but referring to using Tannehill creative, put him on the move, have him be a primary threat on third downs, fourth downs, etc. I think if the Dolphins feel using Tannehill as a bigger threat won't be effective it is Lazor and Philbin job to find another way to get an edge, because the way we have played the last two games they have played like they feel using him would be ineffective so we will just default to our 2013 form.
Here are some things I would like to see:
(a) Find more creative blocking schemes. Things like install a fullback to help out. I realize we have no true fullback but use Clay and he also adds his pass catching ability. Sims has been doing well at TE, he can fill in there.
(b)Better use of roll outs, including throwing some deeper routes on the roll out.
(c) At least try some (more) option read stuff to make the defense weary and a little less aggressive.
(d) Why is it we always see the no huddle ran successful then they just get away from it? Wouldn't keeping the defense out of breath slow down the pressure?
(e) Accountability. Wallace should either sit or be a decoy. I realize he has been effective but we have gotten to accept lack of effort and poor play. Send a message to the other players.
