FWIW, my own gut feeling going into this year is:

The Fish will be better, how much better is anyones guess.
Bills will be better.
Jets could be better but Pennington is a big ? (they DO have Feidler for a backup) Ha If Pennington stays in one piece, a Wildcard team.
Pats will be worse, coaching changes, players retiring, lots of churn on all fronts. They'll still be good but this year they lose games they used to win. I figure they'll win the division and go out first round.

Maybe we have gotten praise because we have been competitive all this time (Which is unheard of), we were getting all the praise because until last year we were averaging 10 wins a season, had a top 5 Defense, one of the best RBs in football, one of the best TEs in football, a young reciever that was probably (Aside from Moulds...and he is getting up there in age) the most talented WR in AFC east, and a QB that was a joke, yet kept getting it done (Thanks mostly to the Defense and Running).

Pretty much like in the early 80s, when your Jets kept being picked to win the East, and go to the Superbowl, yet it was Miami that kept finishing 1st in the east and going to the superbowl.

Don't be upset because Miami is thought of in a higher position then your team, Just last year (Before July), Miami was thought of as a better team then yours, they have one bad year because of players missing, players hurt, and incompitent Coaches (Problems no longer with the Dolphins), and this year, all of a sudden the Jets are better.....Fine, I am not getting upset with that, I say start the season, let Miami prove how wrong the so called experts are in week 2. You should do the same, unless you think that you need to talk for your team, because on week 2, they will not be able to do it? :D

You had a ceiling of about 10 wins and a 2nd rd apperance but every year we heard how you were a SB caliber team and never came close. Your D was exposed in big games and you never came close. Chambers is good but highly overrated- tell him to get a 1,000 yd season then get back to me. Kept getting what done? Are you calling dan a joke? This goes back to the late 90s as well. You got nothing done expect getting humiliated in playoff games.

We have a better team history than the Jets..if that is a source of embarrasment or an inferiority complex for you...that is too bad.

We were a half away from the SB in 1982 and a few mins form the AFC Tiitle game in 1986- at least we showed up in playoff games which is something Miami has not done in their playoff losses in a long time. We go out w/ some dignity while you guys have been humiliated in the playoffs for years.

Miami wasn't thought of as better even before all your problems. We were going to be better regardless. We lost a ton of FAs b/c of the cap in '03 and had Chad injured- that's the onyl reason you finished ahea dof us but we rebounded quickly w/ a young core that has been in big games. Your core hasn't been in a playoff game since '01 and their experience is all blowout losses.

You are not beating us in Week 2 unless we have a rash of injuries, we are better and have owned you guys since 1998. You have a chance at home but I'd still favor us for the sweep. You are a year away from truly being competitive.

Personally...I pick the Jets to beat the Phins in week 2....but to say that there is "NO WAY" that the phins win...well....you know...

The Jets better be good.....for your sake....

I have never wished injury on any player...BUT BOY do I want to see the Jets have Fiedler in the starting lineup....

Strange article. At first I thought it was by a guest columnist who had to be a fan, because no normal columnist would write something so unbased. He makes it sound like there are bands of Dolphins fans running around Buffalo spreading the gospel of Saban or something.


There's really only one reason you write an article like that: you want to knock your subject down a peg for personal reasons. There's no other reason to explain the faulty logic: the columnist starts off explaining how the fans are full of themselves, and by the end of the article, he's saying that the coaches need to back up the fans claims. A big "WTF?" to say the least.

It happens everywhere but it is comical here since you guys have had mroe than enough praise thrown your way fro doing nothing over the past decade/ From '97-'03 every year you were a SB favorites int he AFC according to the "experts" yet you didn't come close one time but they kept picking you then when you have all the problems you had last offseason everyone was so offended people picked you in last and this year it looks like it's a 3 team race(NE,NYJ,Buf) and Miami fans are offended by that. It does happen on every board but it is defintiely worse here.

Whether one is the best or not is a matter of opinion. You only want people to say he's the best because he's a fin now. You wouldn't care if he was still w/ the chargers and all was said is that he's ONE OF THE BEST

Much like how you were always bragging about your overated O-line coach last year right? Why would we care if he wasn't a Dolphin. What would be the point of that. We are DOLPHINS for a reason, because we don't care about any other teams. And even so, he would still be considered one of the best by the rest of the league. You make it seem like we know Houck personaly and just made him out to be this great oline coach because hes boy or something. We didn't make it up, everyone in the entire NFL said it, Nick said, the media said it, and now the players on offense are saying it. So I dont think we are wrong for saying it because it's a proven fact, not just false thinking. So, wether he was our coach or not, he would be making somebody's team happy. As, I recall he was a FA coach and we paid top dollars to get him. You should see what Atlanta's Oline coach did for them this year and he was considered the best available last year.

The local media in Buffalo who cover the bills are not Homers. They have been very critical of the bills and their GM and coaches over the last several years. The reaction to the article in question is what I would expect. Any media who says anything that is construed as negative or critical gets bashed to the high heavens on this site and considered "dolphin haters" and any medai praising the dolphins or their players is considered gospel.
