The below rankings are taken from www.profootballfocus.com so in terms of how they calculate etc. you would need to go to the website. Being a bit of a stats freak I just thought it would be interesting to see how the players on this team rank in the league, using very thorough and detailed mechanisms.
The first number is their rank the 2nd number is the total number of players that were graded in that category. Ive also added in some interesting notes on some players

Chad Henne 18/39
Ricky Williams 19/63
Ronnie Brown 21/63
Lou Polite 2/30 - #1 in total snaps by a FB
Anthony Fasano 5/61
Joey Haynos 18/61
Davone Bess 14/106 10th in receiving only
Greg Camarillo 41/106 46th in receiving only
Brian Hartline 48/106 33rd in receiving only
Ted Ginn 85/106 80th in receiving only
Jake Long 2/77 #1 in total snaps by an OT
Vernon Carey 7/77 #2 in total snaps by an OT
In OT players with over 1000 snaps
· Both are tied 2nd in Sacks allowed with 4
· Both are tied 5th in Hits allowed with 5
· Long had 8 QB pressures
· Carey had 19 QB pressures (would be interesting to see if most of these came at the end of the season)

Justin Smiley 19/83 2 sacks allowed – 842 snaps
Nate Garner 31/83 1 sack allowed – 444 snaps
Donald Thomas 58/83 5 sacks allowed – 909 snaps

Jake Grove 3/34 0 sacks allowed & 1 hit allowed – 669 snaps
Joe Berger 12/34 0 sacks allowed & 1 hit allowed – 422 snaps

Well I gave up on this when I see Gibril Wilson rankend 17th. Hard to imagine there is a worse Safety than he is.

how the heck is gibril above bell, i just dont get it. although neither were perfect there is no way he outplayed bell.

Yeah that site is crap.

Fasano a top 5 Tight End ? lol

The Gerbil Wilson one of the upper tier safeties ? rofl

you should never use the overall ranking... only the specific rankings of each category (rushing for RBs, receiving for WRs, etc)... the site even tells you the overall ranking is not accurate in anyway

Would also be nice to indicate the performance cutoff of the rank at which players have negative statistics.

so because of that lets look at Anthony Fasano... hes listed as the 2nd best run blocking TE, but receiving wise hes number 53 which sounds about right... that doesn't make him an overall top 5 though, but the overall just adds all the numbers together, so since he was SO good at pass blocking it jumps him high which isn't accurate...

and who is Paul Langford? Did you mean Kendall or did you grab the wrong DE?

also Girbril Wilson is number 35 in coverage safeties... which is more accurate, though he should probably be lower

I think its a good standard to follow. You have to keep in mind that Bell is playing strong safety while Wilson is playing free safety for us. It shows that Bell's score is worse in coverage than Wilson, and here's the reason for this, as a strong safety Bell is left to cover TEs underneath, most of the time they do catch the underneath stuff but Bell is usually on top of them before they can get any additional yds because he is a very good tackler. Now as for Wilson, we only realize Wilson when he is getting beat deep, and that ususally happens about once, maybe twice a game, which usually cost us 6 points. Less passes are caught on Wilson, but they are usually the biggest plays of the game.

Now where Wilson's score is obviously worse than Bell's is in run support. The comparison there is not even close, and that's because we are always seeing Wilson miss tackles (whether its a run play, or pass play), while Bell is usually a sure tackler for us.

I think its' pretty accurate, Bell gives up more catches underneath, than Wilson getting beat deep per game. Underneath passes are going to happen, they are tougher to defend, but the one or two deep passes that Wilson gets beat on usually cost us 6 points.

Now only if they had a stat for giving up big TD plays, than Wilson would be ranked last overall.

Does Bell get any bonus points for making what seems like 100 TD saving tackles? I swear I think if he wanted to Bell could run down a wild horse from behind.

Let's take a look at Devon Bess compared to players that he was rated superior to

Bess....catches 71...yards 675...tds 1..rated #14 of all widereceivers

Driver...catches64..yards 996...tds 6...rated #62
Jackson.catches60..yards 1121..tds9...rated #36
White..catches 79..yards 1087..tds 10..rated #33
Ward...catches 87..yards 1106...tds 6..rated #25
Mason..catches 72..yards 1005...tds 7...rated#23
Moss....catches 78..yards 1189...tds 13..rated#22
Boldin..catches 82...yards 991....tds 5....rated#21
Colston.catches 69..yards 1071...tds 9....rated#19
Smith..catches 97..yards 1163...tds 7....rated#16
Jennings..catches 65 yrds 1084...tds 4... rated#15

According to PFF Bess is rated above all mentioned wide outs
In what bizaro universe would one rate/take Bess over any of the above wide out???

I love there sites stats but there rating system is absurd

I think the most interesting set of rankings is our ILBs. Now that DOES reflect reality and shows up the weakest part of our team.
