Miami says OK to Marlins Stadium deal

It's about time. That damn infield dirt will soon be a thing of the past!

That's great for the Marlins. I hope they can fill the damn thing. I like the team, even if they're in the NL East.

Its about time. Can't wait to get rid of that dirt.

The dirt was going either way, as Wayne denied the Marlins an extension of their lease. I just wish this stadium deal meant it would happen NOW.

I'm happy for that team. They have some real talent down there it's about time they got a stadium of their own.

I really don't care about the infield dirt. Don't even tell me that costs us games, because there were teams that came here and beat us, so it is obvious that you can win on that field.

And as sad as it may sound to you all, Florida has done more as a team the last 10 years than the Miami Dolphins have accomplished. Hell, technically speaking, Florida has done more the last 10 years than the Dolphins have accomplished in 30 years if we're talking championships.

Once it's official, look for Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to get long term deals.

Not necessarily. Loria and Samson have both said the payroll's not going up during the construction years. But Beinfest will probably convince them otherwise.

Anyway, this deal's not done. They still need to 100% solidify the stadium site. No more of this OB/Gov't Center/elsewhere crap. Pick a site, stick with it, build there. That simple. Secondly, they still need the rebate from the state. While Gov. Crist seems to be in favor of it, there are plenty of politicians who are playing the "money should be spent in better places" game, even though it's a rebate and all the money ($30 million) will be paid back at $2 million/year for 15 years. The state would lose a little bit of money due to inflation and interest rates over that span, but not enough to justify, in my opinion, losing the team.

But as those of us who have been waiting for these developments for 7-8 years say, I'll believe it when the ground is broken. And not until then.
