The Dolphins need a running back because efforts have so far failed in the attempt to re-sign Lamar Miller, sign restricted free agent C.J. Anderson, or unrestricted free agent Chris Johnson.
Over the past thirty-five seasons the BIG 10 teams have had 11 first round running backs with very little success.

Only Eddie George and Larry Johnson have had success in the NFL, the rest have been bums simply because the BIG 10 are known for big linemen who opens up big holes. Remember Tyronne Eatelly, Kijaana Carter, Tim Biakatuka, Curtis Enus, Chris Perry, do you need more. Nothing scares me more than Miami spending their 13th overall pick on another Big 10 running back who is going to be a bust in the NFL. There are way more important holes on this team that could be filled with that pick. Miami can find a gem on the second or third day of the Draft, rather than spending their top pick for one.

And you should be careful with biases.

We should be careful not drafting the best players available when we pick regardless of their college's conference.

Just stating the facts. Big 10 RBs just don`t do well in the NFL.

Hyde. Langford, just to name a couple to prove the assertion is wrong. The point is also, you are basing the bias on an unrelated era, decades ago, and in the end it does not matter what conf they play in? Each player is evaluated individually.

Dude, I am a BIG 10 alum myself. All am saying is no rb with the 13th pick!

Eddie George, Robert Smith, Le'Veon Bell, with promise from Abdullah and Langford in year one. Don't generalize.

eddie george sure had the yardage in the end, but his career avg. is absolutely miserable, don't know if he counts as a positive example for successful Big 10 RB's

Agree with you. However, in todays league you don't take a running back in the first from any school.

But we are Dolphins fans so we should expect a running back in the first.

Says who, you?

Funny, but the guys that get paid for a living to evaluate and actually make decisions for their teams are strongly considering taking a RB in the 1st this season. Someone took one last season and in other seasons previously.

The more accurate statement is that is that you don't see it often, but there certainly isn't a longstanding rule against. If a RB is a supremely talented 3 down guy and a need, you take them if they among the best players available.
