Miami To Have #1 Defense After Today?

After Tom Brady, Edelman, and Wright finish carving up Detroit like a Thanksgiving turkey, Miami could have the #1 Defense in the NFL at the end of the day.

But they'll have to shut down Manning first.
 
It takes a lot more than one game to change the stats that much.

Yes, we have given up 302 per game and the lions 290 per game. But 12 yards over 10 games is 120 yards we are behind them. Right now the lions have given up 341 to the pats in the 3rd. Peyton threw for 370 last week in a loss. We will give up at least 400 total yards today so the pats would have to put up another 200 for us to take over the lions, and someone from behind us would still pass us. The bills and jets are both less than 21 yards per game behind us. I can see us falling back to 5th-7th easier than I can taking over 1st.

Realistically we fall to 3rd or 4th after today, IMHO.

If Miami shuts down Manning and whatever running game the Broncos can muster...we might have the #1 defense. We'll find out right soon.

We need our defense to play hard today to keep it close.

This defense performed well until 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Coyle got passive and Denver was let off the hook with the prevent to score a TD.
Once you take your foot off of these offense, they come back to beat you.
Denver knew that this Fins defense didn't want to play physical in the cold. The coach obliged them and played off. Trade off 1st down for time off the clock. That strategy never wins.
