Miami to host a number of veteran free-agent guards on Wednesday.

Free agent G/T Jeff Linkenbach will visit the Dolphins on Wednesday.
Miami will host a number of veteran free-agent guards on Wednesday, including Linkenbach and Jeff Baca. Household names, we know. Linkenbach, 28 in June, has started 36 games for the Colts and Chiefs the past five seasons.

hopefully they sign one and we can ignore drafting a guard until probably the last day of the draft

Baca would be a better fit in Miami than he was in Minnesota or SD. Very good athlete. Depth player with some upside - given his athleticism and switching to a system that better suits him.

Some nice vets still out there, but these names do not inspire.

How about former Canes OL man Chris Myers , he played C for the Texans but he could play G for the Fins , he is 33 years old, he would be good insurance in case one of the young guys can't come through for us.

Dolphins have waived guard Davonte Wallace. Carry on. @AdamHBeasley

I am guessing this was the reason why.

Horse left the barn when Wisnewski signed with Jax.
Really? We couldn't deem him worthy of 2.6 million?

These guys are options ... maybe along the lines of what we had last year in Colledge. It's worth exploring as a plan B. I'm all for having options and then scooping up the BPA regardless of position. We have too many holes to worry much about need.

The draft is kinda slim pickins this year along the OL. Scherff is the only OL I like in the 1st. The guys in the 2nd are all developmental tackles, most of which will get pushed up to the 1st because it's such a bad year for OL. If a guy like Clemmings or Fisher falls to round 2, I'd grab them, but I suspect all the OL will be overdrafted on day 1 and 2.

Mid to late round picks are more developmental guys or guys with flaws. Among that group my sleeper pick is Glowinski ... I think he could be a very good fit for us.

You don't need 5 pro bowl offensive linemen to have a good line.

Our line fell apart because Albert got hurt. It was just fine before that

did you ever think that he didnt want to come to miami? why is it always a one way street?

I would rather trade down in second round with Seattle since they have two early comp picks and take Ali Marpet at 63. Get their 3rd, because their comp pick is right behind that pick and get their 4th, also another comp pick behind that one and they get to move up significantly in the second round since they traded away their first rounder. They dont have to play us this year.

I would rather draft a guard in first rd especially if it is Scherff . Draft is full of good young WR.

So, you would take a guy who isn't a true guard, can't pass block, has an injury history and bad hands and most important, doesn't fit our scheme at #14? Why?

People are caught up in in the player ratings. This year is not a strong year for o-line, especially for the zbs!! Yeah, scherff has been handed the top rated OT/OG title but most scouts have him rated in the mid 6's!! In most years, that's a second round choice and that depends on who is available!!!

Everyone is treating that guy like he is a 7.6 rated OT when in fact he is rated an average 6.4 on a lot of sites and I think that is big time generous!! He can't pass block and has poor hands. You want that at #14 and protecting tanny in a passing offense? That's Ireland territory!!

A top 15 pick should not have to play some other position than what he has played because he can't play it at an nfl level. Your pick that high should be what he has played most of his football life (very few exceptions) and fit the scheme he goes to. Yeah, the cowboys got poop house lucky last year, but I tell you this, had the cowboys not had the rb they had and the explosive passing game they have, that kid doesn't make the pro bowl as a guard first year. If at all. And he is an AWFUL example of converted players because of those factors.

I think Scherff and Landon Collins are going to be 2 of the three biggest drops in this draft. Both are one trick ponies and you don't take one trick ponies top 15. If we decide to stay put, there will be several players worth that spot, much better prospects than a can't pass block, hope he can play guard convert.

Just don't get the love fans have for scherff.

At this point I'd take just about anyone so we don't need to start Thomas

Ozzy rules!!
