Someone I found this very interesting from a phinsider reader.
The more I have been looking at the deep group of wide receivers, the more I get the feeling the Dolphins are looking to trade Kenny Stills. Here are reasons why I think this could happen:
1) This coaching staff drafted Carroo. Maybe they did the trade up with potentially trading Stills for a 4th rounder in mind.
2) This coaching staff signed Griff Whalen. Offensive coordinator Clyde Christenson had him in Indy and knows what he brings. He would be a serviceable 4th wr.
3) We have some developmental prospects that this coaching staff may like. Hazel ,Aj Cruz, Rashawn Scott, or someone else that they think could be a 5th wr.
4) Mighty mouse could play receiver in a pinch.
Other non-personnel reasons I think this could happen:
1) The Dolphins keep talking up Stills at camp. Is he really doing that well or are the Phins just trying to boast his value.
2) The two previous teams Gase was the offensive coordinator for, the Bears and the record breaking Broncos, didn't have a dedicated smaller speed guy. It doesn't seem to be a vital part of his offensive game plan.
3)If Stills has a semi-decent year, say 600 yards and 5 TDs, do you think the Dolphins will sign him next year to be a 4th WR? Would stills even want to sign here? I thyink he is going to want to get a payday.
4) If it doesn't seem likely Stills will re-sign with us next year, would we want him to take snaps away from a developmental player? Especially considering we probably aren't contending for the Super Bowl this year.
Do you think if the Dolphins are offered a 4th round pick next year they will take it? I can see the Ravens looking at Stills with Perriman potentially out again. Any thoughts on trading Stills?
***All this changes if the Dolphins suffer an injury before the season starts
