Bowens has good rushing ability and can contribute to our depth. He also plays very good special teams. Spragan would be a decent backup no doubt.

I would hope to get one of them back as a backup, preferrably Bowens to be honest with you.

They've both rotted in free agency so why not?

The good and bad here is that you get a solid backup LB and DE BUT you do not become YOUNGER on D. At what point does Pope get his shot at LB? It would be nice to bring in some good young guys and stick them in when needed. Why do they have to rot on the bench for a year or two and maybe never get a chance. Right now we have Zach,Porter, and Crowder. That's it - you aren't starting over them! JT moves to LB and there are your 4 LB's in a 3-4. At LB we need to bring in some young guys that can take over for Zach and Porter down the road. Spragan just ain't getttin any better. Backup - great BUT then how do you develop a young guy is my problem when he is in the way. It's the try and win now versus plan for the future problem. If you can bring in good enough young guys you can do both. Depends how you draft.

I like both ideas. Both provide solid insurance and would be good backup/ST contributors. I really have always liked DBow, and it would be nice to have him back. Hes the type of player that does his job, never complains, and when he does get extended playing time, he makes the most of it. Spragan would be a decent backup, since he knows the system and we are not all that deep at the LB position.

Spragan has nothing to do with Pope. Pope is basically Zach's future replacement. When Zach hangs it up, Crowder moves to LILB and Pope steps in at RILB.

Spragan doesnt affect that. Spragan will just be Porter's backup, that's it. This is a sound idea.

I always have like D-Bo....Spragan may not have a lot left in the tank but he would be a nice backup...good moves if we can sign them.

I personally think this is a brilliant move since depth in something so important in the NFL. Both Spragan and Bowens would be real good contributors as back-ups and ST players.

Thanks for the news. Personally, I believe bringing back both players would be an assett to our team. Spragan would provide the much needed depth at Linebacker and is familiar with our system. While D-Bo is also familiar with our system, he is one of the better 3rd down Defensive ends in the league. D-Bo can collapse a pocket and has the speed to rush outside on passing plays.

I'd really like to have Bowens back, he gets so little respect for what he does. I can't believe he hasn't been signed by another team yet.

that kinda gives off we likely wont go DE in rounds 1-4.

I think we actually will go LT, WR, QB and LG if landry isnt our pick.

I totally disagree here. Pope is no MLB size wise and please don't point out Zach's size. Zach is a BIG exception to the rule and if you take out a guy like Traylor in the middle even Zach will get run over. You need a guy 250+ in the middle. Pope is too small and is not a tackling machine like a Zach that can overcome the size limitation. Pope can play OLB and has the speed. He will be a FA long before Zach is gone so I wouldn't suggest he will be sitting around waiting for Zach to retire and step in. Pope is under 6 feet and in the 220's - he will not be standing up a blocker at the line so to suggest he is the future at MLB is not accurate IMO. Spragan would keep a guy like Pope from getting on the field IMO. Pope can take snaps at OLB and IF we draft an OLB when will he get an opportunity?

DBo makes some sense although I can't believe he won't get more money than we would pay. We still need to draft another DE to groom.

It would be great to get David Bowens back he is a very effective pass rusher subbing in for JT.
