Miami will be different but results the same???

Things go great! But the win/loss column improves only a couple games.
Id say things have gove very well already.

6-10 might seem REALLY BAD, from your point of view. but i think it has the highest chance of happening.

less than 5 wins = 15%
5 wins = 20%
6 wins = 30%
7 wins = 25 %
more than 7 wins = 10%

I'm not saying we are going to be world beaters, but I do think we will be better than last year. To wit:

-Our O-line has to be better, doesn't it? I mean, can it possibly be worse than last year?

-Same goes for our running back situation. It will be better.

-Our WR will be improved, as Booker is healthy and we have Boston.

-Our front seven will be as effective, if not more so, than last year in my opinion. The concern is the secondary. But think about it, was our safety play of Freeman and Knight that great last year? The obvious hole is Surtain being gone, but hopefully schemes and pressure up front can soften the impact of his leaving.

I am always optimistic when it comes to the phins, but really, how can we be worse than last year?

We can't. But we've a road ahead of us before we are better.

What I should have stated was "how can we not be better than last year".

IMO,
if the question is simply "HOW".... than the answer is simply "your QB and secondary".

  • Stoda always represents a negative take on the Dolphins and football in general. I support different points of view but like is so often requested here... have the facts to back it up.
  • I have yet to see a consensus that fans believe Frerotte or Feeley was ever considered the long term answer. Freotte knew the system could help the offense (especially receivers) develop and he has been a proven producer at back-up. Feeley was and still is the unknown, but this was the year to find out for sure. It's not like we are a player or two away.
  • Yes the o-line is suspect yet he offers no positive takes on the Carey, James or McIntosh or the blocking of the TE's. We are much more versitile than last year, this helps depth. The line will take time to come together but it certainly is showing signs, just look at the sack totals.
  • It's not rushing yards per sae that dictate success it's average yards per play. If Miami can average 5.2 yards per play on offense they will be a top 18 ranked offense. He never mentions all the carries that it took to get RW those yards. And the results of all those rushing yards gave us what...?
  • For the guy not to acknowdge the depth at the WR position is either disrespectful of the players or just plain dumb... or both.
  • Yes the defense will be the cornerstone and exciting to watch but I do believe most on here are excited about the long ball again this season.
  • Who ever suggested we would not miss Surtain?????
  • Saban is accustomed to winning... heck yeah.... but the guy fails to mention that Saban has BUILT winners... not taken over winning programs. Stoda's remarks on this topic alone make him look like a buffoon!
  • Has the guy looked at the NFL... historically 6 teams with losing records make the playoffs the next year... there are only 4-5 complete teams and a lot of parity... the divisions will be dominated by 7-9 and 9-7 records... a few will be above a few will be below.
  • Has the guy looked any other teams we face... the Colts have lost 2 o-lineman to FA and have given up 20 SACKS this preseason exposing thier franchise player... who by the way has a sore shoulder as a result... the Bills have a rookie that has yet to get the team in the end zone and is averaging 4.5 yards per attempt... Can Pennington finish a season... RB's at Martins age go downhill FAST, will that happen... Denver has serious issue on defense in both their d-line and secondary... the list goes on...
  • Our win/loss record might not rise above the 4-14 mark but that does not mean we aren't a much better team than last season.
  • Stoda earns no respect because he has a limited presumptive negative take on the Dolphins. He needs to do some good old fashioned homework on the NFL, the teams and the Dolphins.

Our QB play sucked last year. It can't possibly be any worse, especially with better weapons and an imaginative coaching staff. Therefore, the QB play, an obvious weakness, seems destined for better things. Better, being a relative term in this case.

As for the secondary, again, I expect the safety play to be better this year than last. Our starters last year sucked in my opinion. Freeman has already been cut this year, I believe by Green Bay, as for Knight he isn't going to be hard to replace. The improvement of our safety play will offset the loss of Surtain. At least that is what I am hoping, and it is not an unreasonable scenario to think so.

your QB play may have "sucked" last year, but IMO, Fiedler is better than AJ and/or Gus.

and i guess its all a mater of opinion, but i dont think you "upgraded" at eather of the safety positions in the offseason.

and not to mention the decrease of tallent at the CB positions. i definatly see alot of passing on the fins this season.

well I guess he is entitled to his opinion...I still say with a lil bit of luck we will be looking at 8-8. The defense will be great, and if the o-line plays decent...

We do not need that much luck to go 8-8, but if things don't go wrong for us, as they normally do, this team will surprise alot of people.

have u seen our QB's, o-line and swiss cheese secondary? 6 wins would be an awesom year

Have you seen how dominent our 1st team Defense has been, have you seen how well this team has been running the ball, have you not seen how this O-line has gotten better every week, with a very good showing against a tough Bucs Defense this last week. NO, Miami winning only 6 games is far from awesome.:shakeno:

Did Fiedler even win a game last year? AJ led two fourth quarter comebacks at the end of the year, one being against the Patsies. As for your assertion of a "decrease in talent at the CB positions", I would amend that to "position" as Madison is still here. Surtain leaving will hurt us, but we may have better depth. We'll see.
