Before I get to the mock draft, here are some things that I think the Dolphins should do leading up to the draft.

Sign/Resign:

David Bowens
Donnie Spragan
Matt Lehr

Cut:

Olindo Mare
Dan Wilkenson (He's still ours since the trade isn't likely going to happen)

Restructure (Or try to Restructure):

Daunte Culpepper
Chris Chambers
Zach Thomas
Jason Taylor

Trades:

Trade Miami's 2007 6th round pick to Kansas City for Trent Green
Trade the #9 overall pick to Green Bay for #16 and #47 overall.

2007 Dolphins Mock Draft:

1) Ted Ginn, Jr.-WR-Ohio State. Ginn brings the speed and playmaking abilitly to our WR core and would not be a reach here at #16. He is a playmaker on special teams as well and Mueller loves speed. Not only does he have speed, but has great hands and body control.

2) Marcus McCauley-CB-Fresno State. This is our chance in the 2nd round to get a shutdown corner. McCauley has a great mix of speed and strength and is most likely the corner that will fall to the 2nd round over Houston and Ross. McCauley's hands aren't great but he can somewhat make up for it in his coverage skills.

2) Drew Stanton-QB-Michigan State. Ah, here's the QB pick. Stanton has the tools to become a good starting caliber QB in this league. His knock is that he doesn't do well under a lot of pressure, but not a lot of QBs do that great under pressure anyways.

2) Ben Patrick-TE-Delaware. This may be a little high for Patrick, but he is the best all around tight end in this draft. He has good hands and is a pretty good blocker. He seems like a Cameron type tight end and would have some time to learn behind Martin.

3) Doug Free-OT-Northern Illinois. Free has good size, but lacks a little bit of speed. He has the potential to play Left Tackle and that is a need, especially if Alabi isn't all that great.

4) Lorenzo Booker-RB-Florida State. Miami needs a different pace back and Booker would provide just that. He would add great depth to our RB group, especially if somehow Ricky doesn't make it back.

7) Dan Mozes-OC-West Virginia. Mozes would be a steal if he stayed this far, but it's not out of the question since this draft is pretty deep at center.

7) Chase Johnson-OT-Wyoming. Chase has good size, but is a little slow. He would provide depth for now, but could one day crack the starting lineup.

2007 Miami Dolphins Predicted Roster:

(Offense)

QB: Culpepper/Green/Stanton/Lemon (T.C. Battle.)
HB: Brown/Williams/Booker
FB: Schlesinger
WR: Chambers/Hagan
WR: Ginn/Booker/Vick
TE: Martin/Patrick/Peelle
LT: Alabi/Free (T.C. Battle)
LG: Hadnot/Toledo
C: Lehr/Mozes
RG: Shelton/Lewinski
RT: Carey/Johnson

(3-4 Defense)

LE: Roth/R. Wright
NT: Traylor/Evans/M. Wright
RE: Holliday/Vickerson
LOLB: Porter/Gbaja-Biamilla
LILB: Thomas/Spragan
RILB: Crowder/Pope
ROLB: Taylor/Bowens
CB: McCauley/W. Allen (T.C. Battle)
CB: Daniels/Goodman/Lehan
FS: J. Allen/Hill
SS: Bell/Worrell

(Special Teams)

K: Feeley
P: Jones
LS: Denney
KR: Ginn/Vick
PR: Ginn/Vick

Notes:
I would like to think that if a roster ever needed four QBs on it, that this would be the time for it. Mueller does have a history of keeping four QBs on a roster and I think now would be the time to do it again. I think Houck is pretty high on Alabi so until we see that he's not quality, we should keep him around to see what he can do. Lehr IMO is more suited for center and Hadnot is more suited for guard. Most of our DT's transfer nicely into 3-4 DE's like Holliday, Vickerson, and R. Wright. I think a healthy Daniels is better than Will Allen. Allen is faster and a better tackler, but Daniels hands are softer, a little better in coverage, and more consistant than Allen. Reply with your thoughts and opinions. What do you think? Go Fins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we ended up with 3 #2 picks...I would love to package a couple to move back into Round 1 and take a shot at Joe Staley. He would certainly have a more legit shot at starting at LT in Week 1 than Free, IMO.

I like everything except for Stanton and McCauley. I'd rather have Chris Houston and another QB, who I don't know but I'm not a Stanton guy.

Not bad kid....I don't like a RB in round 4 and I'd rather take a guard at some point but I like the top picks but not Free.

Ozzy rules!!

The Packers are only moving to #9 if Peterson falls to us. In the top 20, Houston, Buffalo, Giants, and Green Bay are potential trade partners given their RB situation. I think the best scenario for us is not for Quinn to fall to us (because it's highly unlikely) but for Peterson to fall.

I like everything except for Stanton and McCauley. I'd rather have Chris Houston and another QB, who I don't know but I'm not a Stanton guy.

I don't think Houston will fall to #40. He's a top 3 CB in this draft. McCauley or Ross both have a better chance of falling to us than Houston. Stanton.....I understand. Some people just don't like him.

Not exactly how I would pick em, but that's about as good and realistic a mock as I've seen. Your mock doesn't address our thin DE position, especially since Bowens signed with the Jets. Also, i'm thinking that with Cam's offense that Troy Smith might be a better fit.

GO PHINS~!

I like your idea except for the drew stanton and the marcus mccauley picks. I would draft cb daymion hughes and ilb david harris instead

why is everyone so high on Joe Staley??? the guy didnt play any GREAT teams, he has minimal experience against great division 1 players. I dont see why people think he can do real well in the NFL.

Not Ginn at 16!!! i say pat Willis

We have probly the best linebacker core in the entire league and you want us to draft a linebacker? and if your talking about getting Zachs heir, CC is more than good enough to do that when the time comes. And our offense was one of the worst in terms of big plays(hell everything), which is what Ginn brings tot he table, hes a Reggie Bush like X-Factor, someone who can score in the blink of an eye.

Uhh....yeah? We do not have the best LB corps in the league, one of the better ones, but not the best. Drafting a LB at this position insures good LB play for the next several years barring injury. Willis can come in and start from day one and make an immediate impact.

I think CKparrothead put it best when he said that you do not use draft picks to fill a need. If you use the draft to plug holes, holes will spring up elsewhere and then you really have an issue.

Miami's strongsuit is on defense. Continue to help that part of your team through the draft and hope that Cam Cam can work wonders on the offensive side of the ball. This team is in no way a SB contender, no matter how many ways you put it. If you continue with great defensive play through drafting impact players, the offense only needs to score a decent amount and hold the ball........Martyball!

IMO, passing on an impact player like a Willis is not prudent. I am not taking away from any of the offensive players in this year's draft, but it looks as if there are 2, maybe 3, offensive guys that are a "sure thing" whom will get drafted well before Miami picks. This draft overall has better defensive players at the top. Miami is in a spot to choose a great defensive player. I think they have to go defense.......
