FWIW, Russ Lande is the Director of College Scouting for Montreal of the CFL, so he has scouted many of these players in the way an NFL team would, and he said that James was a top-20 "talent" in the draft and he would've been selected in the 20's if we had traded down. This was on the Ross Tucker podcast talking about the first round.
He conceded while he is a top-20 "talent" he is not a top-20 "player" currently. He said he was much better than Cyrus K. and world's better than Morgan Moses (whom he did not like at all). He talked about the fact that a trade down is nice in theory, but there was such a gap between James and the other RT's that he would've stayed there and made sure he got his guy.
Kind of aligns with what this guy's friend has to say about James.
