Deion IMO is an idiot of epic proportions. But once or twice a season, he says something worthwhile.

Eisen, Faulk, & Deion were talking during the post game analysis about a Seattle game NFL Network did in Dec 2011. They asked Pete about the identity of his team, which had not been established yet.

Long story short, DS said there were 3 pieces to Seattle's identity. The Legion of Boom, a dog (though Beast would be more appropriate) of an RB, & an intelligent QB. Sherman & Thomas are crucial cogs in Seattle's D but the most important pieces are Wagner & Chancellor.

The phins are part of the way there. Drafting Morris (MLB Iowa) then Blue or Hill (RB LSU) would help considerably.

Thoughts/insight?

We had 3 of the worst rushing performances in franchise history and we gave up a franchise record number of sacks in the same year.

You can have whatever identity you want. If you can't block anybody, you're not going to win games. I don't even know how we won 8, to be honest with you.

Lol. When analyzing the identity of the Dolphins under Joe Philbin it will be the opposite of the Seahwaks. Joe wants a finesse team. He wants to be quick and agile upfront.

It makes no sense talking about getting "punch you in the mouth" type players under Philbin. I am the exact opposite in my belief system of how to win games. Give me the blue collar approach of the Seahawks, Niners and 2012 Ravens. However, when discussing who the Fins should get this offseason it has to be done through the lense of what Joe wants in a player.

Scary to think that we were a couple bounces from winning 10 or 11.

(yes, I'm aware that a couple bounces and we'd have 5 or 6 wins as well).

While RT has work to do, he is well down the list of issues I have this offseason

The formula being used by those teams, is the one advocated by Parcells. Parcells issue was the QB position. I don't feel like going back to see who was against such a system, but it was plentiful here. SEA and SF are benefiting from years of high draft picks and those players coming into their own in years 3-5.

The fan base of MIA rails against smash mouth when they see a team like GB and NE win with passing the ball all over the field. Then they see the physical nature of SEA and SF, and rail against the beast they wanted. This fan base to a degree deserves the BS we are in right now. After all, I read on FH repeatedly that offensive linemen were not important to the modern day NFL. How did that work out?

If you're getting destroyed on both sides on the LOS, you will have no identity. As much as I hate that fraud & huckster Parcells, he had the right idea. You build your team from the lines out. How many times did we see in Dan Marino's career where he lost to lesser QBs simply because they coulkd control the LOS & keep him off of the field? I really like Seattle's make-up as a team. I think its the vision that Tuna had when he came here. Controlling the LOS, good defense, running game, & efficient offense still wins you lots of games in todays pass-happy NFL.

Phailbin also wants 'puppies' that don't bark or bite! he wants everybody to be quiet and listen to teacher... friggin guy bores his players to death

BB due to circumstance went back to smash mouth in the 2nd half of the season. And you win in DEC and JAN with the ability to run the ball and PROTECT your QB.

Seattle has a coach that has a clue and can actually motivate his players. We got a guy that can't even think for himself in a damn press conference after the game.

Or a team that loves to use PEDs?

SEA is benefiting from years of HIGH draft picks. As is SF.

And the schizo nature of this fan base, deserves the times we are in now. You included.

Richard Sherman - 5th round
Russell Wilson - 3rd round
Kam Chancellor - 5th round
Walter Thurmond III - 4th round
Golden Tate - 2nd round
Tharold Simon - 5th round
K.J. Wright - 4th round
Bobby Wagner - 2nd round
Max Unger - 2nd round

They aren't benefiting from high draft picks, they're benefiting from SMART draft picks. The Dolphins could have had all of those players if they wanted. Heck, we passed on several of these guys MULTIPLE times. That is the difference in the two teams. Hopefully, that will turn around now that Ireland is gone.

They've really only had one stellar first round draft (2010), when they took Russell Okung and Earl Thomas in the first 14 picks.

Defense is definitely impressive. But that offense and QB are yikes. I do not want the Phins to emulate or draw inspiration from Seattle's offense, in any way.

Give me the blue collar approach of the Seahawks, Niners and 2012 Ravens.

This is the best formula for our team - given the division we play in (cold/outdoors) and the fact we don't have an uber-elite QB. Copy what works and has always worked. Play D and run the ball.
